It turns out that Netflix’s latest series, titled “Forever“, is proving to be quite successful. In just a few short days following its debut, there has been some thrilling news about the show’s continuation.
On Wednesday, it was confirmed that the popular series “Forever” has been given the green light for another season, just a week after its premiere on Netflix on May 8. The show quickly became a favorite among viewers, earning a remarkable Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 96%. Fans were thrilled with the show, as it captured their hearts.
The show titled “Forever” was born from the mind of Mara Brock Akil (known for “Moesha”). This series delves into the blossoming connection between African-American teenagers, Keisha (Lovie Simone) and Justin (Michael Cooper Jr.), in the year 2018. The story unfolds as these childhood friends reconnect at a New Year’s Eve party after being apart for some time. The first season ended with an unexpected twist, but its renewal promises to dive deeper into Keisha and Justin’s relationship in the episodes to come.
What Will Happen in Season 2 of Forever?
Brock Akil wonders about the future for the two characters. For Keisha, her next boyfriend remains unclear; I’m curious to see how she behaves in a new relationship setting. As for Justin, now that he has some direction, I’m eager to discover what he does during his gap year and who he becomes apart from Keisha.
Brock Akil hinted with enthusiasm, “Our show wasn’t merely about first love; it was about being understood, about allowing teenagers to be vulnerable, complex, and authentic. And the audience responded to that. With season 2, we’re expressing our gratitude and excitement by diving even deeper into those themes. We appreciate Netflix for making this possible – season 2 is on its way soon!
In addition to Lovie Simone, Michael Cooper Jr., and Xosha Roquemore, the cast also includes Marvin Lawrence Winans III, Wood Harris, Karen Pittman, Barry Shabaka Henley, Ali Gallo, Niles Fitch, and Paigion Walker. The series is overseen by executive producers Judy Blume, Suzie Fitzgerald, Erika Harrison, Sar White, Regina King, Shana C. Waterman, and Anthony Hemingway.
On Wednesday, it was announced that several shows would be renewed. In addition to “Forever”, another freshman series getting a second season is “The Four Seasons”. The beloved show “My Life with the Walter Boys” has already been granted a third season before its upcoming second one airs this year. “The Diplomat” has also been renewed for a fourth season. Although Season 4 of “Bridgerton” won’t premiere until 2026, Netflix has already given it a two-season extension.
Forever is streaming on Netflix.
