Netflix renews Running Point for second season just one week after release

In just seven days following its premiere, Netflix has announced that they will produce another season of the Kate Hudson comedy series “Running Wild.

The streamer shared the news through a post on their official account (previously known as Twitter), featuring a unique video from Hudson.

Kicking off with several snapshots of enthusiastic fan posts on social media calling for another season, the video unveils Hudson’s announcement about season 2.

A wise basketball team proprietor understands the importance of taking fan opinions into account,” she points out. “And that’s exactly what Netflix has done – they’re bringing back ‘Running Point‘ for another season!

She expresses her gratitude by saying, “I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has watched the show thus far. It’s overwhelming to say that I’m thrilled beyond words because it’s your support that enables us to return for another season. So, thank you and we look forward to seeing you again next season.

The series has proven popular among viewers, consistently ranking high on the streaming platform’s Top 10 list since its debut, even though it received relatively modest praise from professional reviewers.

In the series, Hudson plays Isla Gordon, once known for her wild party lifestyle, who finds herself suddenly managing her family’s professional basketball team and navigating the challenges of becoming an effective entrepreneur.

The show isn’t factual, but it draws loose inspiration from the experiences of Jeanie Buss, the CEO of the LA Lakers. Previously, co-creator Mindy Kaling expressed that her leadership journey in a major sports franchise was both inspiring and full of potential for storytelling.

In addition to Justin Theroux, this series features actors such as Scott MacArthur, Drew Tarver, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Jay Ellis, and Chet Hanks.
