Netflix’s Heartstopper Ending: Final Chapter & Movie Revealed!

Heartstopper is ready for its final stop.

Following a run of three seasons, the maturity-themed show featuring Kit Connor and Joe Locke is set to conclude with a Netflix film, as confirmed on April 22nd by the streaming service.

The movie is planned to revolve around the as-yet unpublished sixth installment of “Alice Oseman’s” graphic novel series with the same title, focusing on Nick (Connor) and Charlie (Locke)’s journey through their long-distance relationship after Nick goes to university.

The filming for this movie is set to commence this summer, with director Wash Westmoreland taking charge. Both Connor and Locke are involved as executive producers, along with Oseman, Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, and Euros Lyn, who has directed the first two seasons of the show.

Oseman expressed his heartfelt joy about concluding the Heartstopper story, stating, ‘I can’t thank enough those who have tirelessly worked to make this happen and the amazing Heartstopper fans for your unwavering patience and enthusiasm.’

She added, “I cannot wait to bring this story to a magical conclusion.”

Prior to the upcoming announcement, Connor previously expressed his views about the potential duration of the show, telling The Cut last week that the Heartstopper team might feel reluctant to continue producing the series simply for the sake of doing so.

Additionally, the 21-year-old emphasized his ability to convincingly portray a teenager, humorously adding “I don’t think anyone wants to picture Olivia Colman driving a 30-year-old Kit Connor to school.

In 2022, “Heartstopper” was introduced, featuring the character Connor as Nick, navigating his sexual identity. However, Connor found himself under scrutiny for queerbaiting—a term referring to individuals who subtly suggest they might be LGBTQ+ to generate interest and attention. As a result, he chose to openly declare his sexual orientation.

As a dedicated follower, I’d like to express my perspective based on the now-deleted post by the British actor: “I identify as bisexual and I commend you for encouraging an 18-year-old to come out, but some viewers may have missed the deeper meaning of the show. Farewell.

Since then, several of his castmates came to his defense, including his onscreen mom Colman.

In a conversation with Variety last December 2022, the Academy Award winner expressed, “I am incredibly proud of him, yet I can’t help but feel dismayed by the way he was treated when bullied. However, everyone deserves their unique path in life.

Colman continued, “It’s unfair. But he’s amazing. He’s a very beautiful human being.”
