As someone who’s been through their fair share of cinematic disasters and miraculous comebacks, I can’t help but shake my head at the resurgence of “The Emoji Movie” on Netflix. Back in 2017, it was a box office phenomenon that left critics scratching their heads and audiences wondering if they’d fallen into some sort of alternate universe.

As a lifelong movie enthusiast, I must admit that I was initially skeptical about “The Emoji Movie.” Released back in 2017, it seemed like an odd choice for a feature film based on such a simple concept. The fact that it received some of the worst reviews in recent memory only solidified my hesitation to watch it. However, as I’ve grown older and have come to appreciate more unique and offbeat films, I found myself reconsidering giving “The Emoji Movie” a chance.

The animated film “The Emoji Movie” recently became available on Netflix and gained popularity among viewers much like other animated movies have in recent times. Surprisingly, even with poor critical reception, it has climbed to the highest spots in Netflix’s movie rankings.

On Tuesday, “The Emoji Movie” took the top spot on Netflix’s most-watched movies list, outperforming films such as “Jack Reacher”, “SpongeBob SquarePants: Saving Bikini Bottom”, and “Trolls United”.
