Netflix's One Piece Confirms Jamie Lee Curtis Will Not Be In Season Two

As a dedicated One Piece fan who has been eagerly anticipating Jamie Lee Curtis‘ potential casting as Dr. Kureha in Netflix’s live-action adaptation, I was crestfallen to learn that she won’t be joining the cast for season two. Despite my disappointment, I can’t help but appreciate Becky Clements’ enthusiasm and passion for the production. Her descriptions of the team’s creativity, professionalism, and excitement are truly inspiring.

Fans of “One Piece” have longed for Jamie Lee Curtis to become a part of the Netflix live-action adaptation. However, regretfully, an executive producer has announced that Curtis will not appear in the second season. Although there’s still a chance she could join later on, it appears Dr. Kureha’s role won’t be filled by her at present.

In her recent interview, Becky Clements spoke about the ongoing production process of “One Piece,” expressing admiration for the team’s dedication: “The people involved in this project are exceptional – from our actors to the production designers, stunt teams, VFX teams, and AD teams. The challenges they face are immense. We often work on multiple episodes simultaneously, which means managing two filming units at once. Simultaneously, we construct sets on stage and frequently shoot on location.”

Clements added, “I believe we have around 900 to 1,200 team members, and their creativity and expertise in wardrobe, hair, and makeup is truly inspiring. Jaco [Snyman], our prosthetics specialist, is among the best I’ve ever encountered. Oda’s intellectual property is incredibly fertile and unique, which makes everyone eager and excited to figure out how we can bring it to life. Even those who have been in this field for years are reinvigorated by this childlike excitement.”

Jamie Lee Curtis Won’t Be In The Grand Line

In a recent chat with Deadline, the executive producer of “One Piece” revealed that Jamie Lee Curtis won’t be portraying Dr. Kureha in the second season of the live-action series due to scheduling conflicts. Although she’s fond of the show and expressed her interest, her upcoming film and TV projects clash with our production schedule, making it a complicated fit. Surprisingly, Clements hinted at the casting of Dr. Kureha by mentioning, “We have discovered a fantastic actor for this role.”

Keep an eye out with us at Team Anime on ComicBook to discover who will assume the position of Kureha in the next installment of One Piece’s adventures in the Grand Line.
