As a die-hard fan who has followed the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates since the early days of the manga, I am absolutely thrilled to hear that Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece is gearing up for Season 2! The first season was a fantastic homage to Eiichiro Oda’s original masterpiece, and I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of more action-packed episodes.
The live-action series adaptation of One Piece, which premiered on Netflix last year and proved immensely popular, is currently under development for Season 2. The editor responsible for the project has provided an update regarding its progress. Originally based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga franchise, this new version of One Piece garnered significant success on Netflix, leading to the announcement of a second season even before the first had concluded. Filming for the upcoming episodes commenced in full over the summer, leaving fans eagerly anticipating its release date.
Speaking with Temple of Geek during San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Netflix’s One Piece editor Eric Litman revealed that editing on the new season has already began as the team is getting together footage to cut but can’t tease too much about the footage itself, “I’m constantly cutting footage. I’m cutting scenes while they’re shooting stuff. We’re always talking about what’s being shot…Fortunately, with One Piece – and also Agents of Shield – everything always worked! Everything was great. The footage, especially with One Piece, is just next level.”
What to Know for Netflix’s One Piece Season 2
As of now, there’s no confirmed release date or timeframe for Netflix’s Season 2 of “One Piece”. However, the original cast members will reprise their roles in the upcoming season. Some new faces joining the cast are Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Clive Russell as Crocus, Werner Coetser as Dorry, Brendan Murray as Brogy, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, and Ty Keogh as Dalton.
The first live-action series adaptation of the record-breaking manga “One Piece” by Eiichiro Oda is now streaming on Netflix. Here’s a sneak peek into what it entails: “ONE PIECE” is an extraordinary sea voyage like no other, inspired by the best-selling manga series ever in Japan. The protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, has always dreamt of freedom and embarks on a dangerous quest to discover the mythical treasure called ONE PIECE, aiming to be crowned as the Pirate King! However, to uncover this great prize, Luffy must first gather his desired crew and find a ship to sail across the vast oceans, outmaneuvering the Marines, evading treacherous opponents, and overcoming numerous obstacles along the way.”
