Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 Reportedly Wraps Filming

As a die-hard One Piece fanatic who has been sailing the Grand Line of this magnificent series since its inception, I can confidently say that Netflix’s live-action adaptation has truly been a game changer! The first season was an exhilarating ride, and it’s heartening to see that the team is already wrapping up the filming for Season 2.

More than a year ago, Netflix’s live-action version of One Piece swept through the internet like wildfire, setting records as the most successful adaptation of an anime manga franchise into a live-action series. By mid-2023, it was the most popular show on Netflix. Just two weeks after its debut, creator Eiichiro Oda announced that the series had been renewed for a second season. In this adaptation, Eiichiro Oda serves as Executive Director and closely oversees every detail to ensure a top-notch production.

The movie was shot in Cape Town, with recent indications that production has finished. A wrap party for the cast and crew was held in Cape Town as well. Natalie Walsh, a local stuntwoman and actress from Cape Town, posted a picture on her Instagram story with three fellow stuntmen and choreographers: Nathan Barris, Shaun Verth, and Mcrae Douglas. The caption says, “Wrap party vibes let’s gooooo.” Although no formal announcement has been made, it seems that the main roles have celebrated the wrap-up (probably not including the principal cast). Filming started in June 2024 and ended as scheduled in December, but viewers won’t get to see the new season until late 2025. The upcoming season will encompass storylines from both the East Blue and Arabasta Sagas.

Yesterday, I was thrilled to join the One Piece live-action family at our wrap party! The shooting for Season 2 has now come to an end – it’s official! What an incredible journey we’ve shared together!

What To Expect From Netflix’s One Piece Season 2?

Netflix’s Season 2 of “One Piece” will delve into the storylines of Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island. Contrary to initial assumptions, the series has confirmed that it will tackle the Arasbasta Arc in Season 3. This approach ensures that the series remains true to the manga without omitting crucial events and figures. The first season concludes with a suspenseful cliffhanger, leaving viewers wondering about the enigmatic man who burns Luffy’s wanted poster. His identity will be unveiled in the forthcoming season, which might come as a shock, but for “One Piece” devotees, he is a beloved character among fans.

Furthermore, the Straw Hat pirates are sailing towards the Grand Line where they’ll encounter more formidable dangers than before. Along the way, we’ll be introduced to several new characters, one of whom is set to join the crew. Intriguingly, Oda hinted in the announcement trailer that a doctor will be joining the crew, and this character is well-liked by fans. Moreover, the enigmatic King of the Pirates will also become more prominent. Although the live-action adapts the main storyline from the manga, it may deviate significantly from Oda’s original vision, so we can’t expect the scenes to unfold identically.
