Netflix’s Shocking Moors Murders Drama

On Thursday, 27th March, Netflix expanded its collection by incorporating a 2006 ITV series titled “See No Evil: The Account of the Moors Murders,” which is another British classic drama to its lineup.

This play, featuring Maxine Peake, Joanne Froggatt, and Sean Harris, narrates the chilling account of the Moors Murders – a series of heinous crimes carried out by Myra Hindley and Ian Brady from 1963 to 1965.

In this setup, Peake portrays Hindley, Harris assumes the part of Brady, and Froggatt embodies the crucial role of Maureen Smith, who is Hindley’s sister.

Meanwhile, Matthew McNulty plays Smith’s husband David.

The first television dramatization of the Moors murders was aired that year, and it coincided with the release of “Longford,” a TV movie authored by Peter Morgan from The Crown series, which delved into Lord Longford’s efforts to secure the parole of Hindley.

That film starred Jim Broadbent, Samantha Morton, Lindsay Duncan and Andy Serkis.

That ITV series which is now available on Netflix is made up of two 45-minute episodes.

Neil McKay penned this work; he’s also known for producing recent true-crime series like “Four Lives,” centered around the murders carried out by Stephen Port, and “The Reckoning,” delving into the sexual misconduct allegations against Jimmy Savile.

McKay constructed See No Evil drawing upon comprehensive studies, which involved conversations with actual investigators who were part of the case, as well as family members of the slain children and Smith.

After its initial release, Peake has since landed roles in various television shows like Little Dorrit, Silk, The Village, Black Mirror, Anne, Inside No. 9, and Say Nothing.

Simultaneously, Froggatt has made appearances in shows like Robin Hood, Downton Abbey, Liar, Angela Black, Sherwood, and Breathtaking, and is set to feature in the Paramount Plus series MobLand.
