New Alien: Earth Footage Takes Us on a Terrifying Tour (And Is Packed With Easter Eggs)

In the initial “Alien” movie, there was a diverse group of intriguing characters that viewers found relatable, but it’s safe to say that the character who elicited the most sympathy was the orange cat named Jonesy. Fortunately, Jonesy made it through the chaos of the first film, but in recently released clips to generate interest for the TV series “Alien: Earth“, another feline is seen going through harrowing experiences. The new footage showcases sneak peeks of the Noah Hawley TV production that follows a cat exploring the Maginot ship, which also includes nods to classic aspects of the “Alien” franchise, such as the MU/TH/UR operating system and sleep chambers during hyper-sleep. Take a look at the enigmatic new footage above and keep an eye out for news about “Alien: Earth”, scheduled to air on FX later this year.

In the upcoming television show “Alien: Earth” by creator Noah Hawley, a young woman named Sydney Chandler and a diverse team of soldiers find themselves confronting the Earth’s most dangerous enemy after an alien spaceship mysteriously crashes on our planet.

In the show, we have Chandler joined by a group of newcomers which include Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El. Just this week, we’ve added more names to the list: Richa Moorjani, Karen Aldridge, Enzo Cilenti, Max Rinehart, Amir Boutrous, Victoria Masoma, Tom Moya, Andy Yu, Michael Smiley, Jamie Bisping, and Tanapol Chuksrida.

This recently obtained footage underscores one intriguing aspect of the project: even hardcore fans of the Alien series struggle to unravel its mysteries. Among the top films in sci-fi and horror for 2024 was Alien: Romulus, which garnered positive reception from both viewers and critics, leading to the announcement of a sequel directed by Fede Álvarez. Although Romulus primarily expanded on the main storyline, it stayed within the established lore of the original series, with its timeline set between the events of Alien and Aliens.

Hawley achieved remarkable triumph with his TV show “Fargo,” extending a well-known tale. Unlike trying to retell the original story or serve as a straight sequel to the 1996 film by Joel and Ethan Coen, FX’s “Fargo” functioned more as a spiritual offshoot of its title, incorporating fundamental ideas, moods, and motifs for a completely fresh narrative. Each season offered a self-contained story, although they all reworked and reinvented the atmosphere of the original movie.

Fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing how Hawley will pay tribute to the cherished Alien series while adding a fresh, unforeseen twist to it. Those attending the South by Southwest Festival can check out an Alien: Earth activation on March 7th and 8th, between 2:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., located at the 318 E 5th St. Lot.

Stay tuned for updates on Alien: Earth before it premieres on FX later this year.
