In an interview with ComicBook, Kirkman hinted at some aspects fans can anticipate from the upcoming release of Battle Beast, scheduled for May. Kirkman mentioned that Battle Beast will prioritize storytelling more than one might assume in a Battle Beast comic, but it won’t shy away from high-octane action scenes. In fact, the main objective of this comic is to surpass previous depictions of Battle Beast, particularly its epic confrontation with Thragg, a powerful Viltrumite character.

Kirkman hinted that the upcoming comic will have more narrative than one might anticipate. He described it as heavily action-focused. As for a spoiler, he mentioned that after returning to Battle Beast for this comic series, he feels compelled to surpass the epic Thragg fight.

Among all instances where Battle Beast appears in the Invincible comics, his fight with Thragg is often regarded as his most impressive showing. Spanning over five issues, starting from issue #115 and ending in issue #120, this epic battle is a standout within the series. Although there are numerous exhilarating fights throughout Invincible, the Battle Beast versus Thragg encounter is considered one of the series’ top highlights.

It’s hinted that Kirkman and Ottley are prepared to outshine the Battle Beast vs. Thragg encounter, which should excite fans about the upcoming series developments. As of now, Kirkman hasn’t specified the duration for the Battle Beast comic, but it marks the beginning of a fresh storyline in the Invincible Universe since Invincible concluded in 2018.

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast is set to arrive in a little over a month on May 14th.
