The new gameplay for Battlefield 6 has been unveiled, highlighting its impressive destruction capabilities. Battlefield, renowned as one of the best shooter franchises globally, has experienced ups and downs throughout its existence. Games like Battlefield 3 and 4 are considered the pinnacle of the series, but subsequent releases such as Battlefield 1 have been well-received. Nevertheless, the sentiment towards more recent games hasn’t been as favorable. However, fans have remained optimistic that EA and DICE would address their requests for a return to the franchise’s golden age… and it appears that their wishes might be granted, offering players the dream game on modern hardware.
As a dedicated Battlefield gamer, I’ve been privileged to take part in several large-scale playtests for the upcoming Battlefield 6 over the past month or so. This early access allows me to experience the game nearly a full year before its official release and offer valuable feedback that can influence its development. Naturally, this has led to some leaks of the game, revealing new gameplay elements and emphasizing how different it is from Battlefield 2042. While this was anticipated due to the high number of participants, it’s also served as effective marketing for EA, generating buzz among fans.
New Battlefield Gameplay Shows Off the Game’s Destruction
In addition to this, Electronic Arts (EA) has been frequently exploring crucial aspects of Battlefield 6 by publishing blog entries and videos. The most recent exploration focuses on destruction in Battlefield 6, and it includes a video showcasing some of the impressive demolition that gamers can anticipate. The video demonstrates how players can fire a rocket at a structure, revealing its contents while simultaneously creating a passage for easy movement through the building. You can watch the gameplay footage below.

This accompanying blog post mentions that destructibility is a significant feature yet again in the latest Battlefield game. While the destruction in Battlefield 2042 was somewhat lackluster, it appears that the new title aims to rectify this significantly. Players will now be able to demolish walls using explosives, but can also weaken them with gunfire before they collapse. They’ll be able to gauge the strength of a surface through visual and auditory cues. Although shooting something won’t cause as much destruction as shown in the video, it can create holes in walls to outmaneuver opponents. The post further explains that every building has an “apple core”, which refers to the basic structure supporting everything, and this will become evident once you’ve removed its various layers through destruction.
In Battlefield 6, destruction serves a crucial tactical role. Not just for breaking into rooms, but debris from destroyed landscapes persists during gameplay, offering dynamic cover and creating diverse strategies. DICE aims to integrate destruction deeply into the gameplay experience, enabling players to carve out unique advantages by uncovering hidden paths, new opportunities, and more. It appears that the developers are dedicated to maximizing the potential of the hardware Battlefield 6 will run on.
Currently, it’s anticipated that Battlefield 6 will come out some time between now and next spring, though a fall release is probable. However, if GTA 6 proves to be formidable competition, Battlefield 6 might be delayed until next year. With an anticipated crowded gaming season ahead, EA aims to ensure the optimal launch time for such a significant game, rather than rushing it out during the holiday season.
