New Capcom Survey Mentions Dino Crisis, Okami, and Other Dead Franchises

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia at the mere mention of these classic Capcom franchises. The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster was a delightful trip down memory lane, and it seems Capcom is eager to continue this journey.

The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, a revival of a once presumed defunct Capcom franchise, was released over the weekend to much fanfare among fans. Not only did they rejoice at the return of their beloved series, but also appreciated the meticulous effort put into the remaster. It appears that Capcom is contemplating revisiting other franchises, as they’ve launched a survey inviting fans’ opinions on the game and their purchasing decisions. Intriguingly, this survey includes a query about potential “deluxe remasters,” with Resident Evil listed, but Capcom also hints at several other dormant or inactive franchises that could potentially be revived.

The survey (which can be found right here) lists the following franchises: Dino Crisis, Lost Planet, Devil May Cry, Power Stone, Resident Evil, Onimusha, Darkstalkers, and Okami. Obviously, this does not guarantee that one or any of these franchises will get a similar treatment, but it’s exciting to see nonetheless. Capcom has clearly been making an effort to bring back some of its older material lately; after years of being unavailable on modern platforms, the two Power Stone games will be included in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 when it releases in 2025.

It’s hardly shocking that Dino Crisis made the cut on this list! Although it’s been more than two decades since a new game was released, it has consistently been mentioned in recent polls. This year, during the Capcom Super Elections, fans from around the globe had the opportunity to voice their opinions on various topics related to the publisher. One of the questions asked fans about franchises that needed a fresh installment. In the end, Dino Crisis secured an impressive 80,769 votes, making it the most popular choice.

Here’s hoping that Capcom will take the feedback from these surveys seriously and revive some of their dormant franchises! After all, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter are just a few of Capcom’s many successful titles. With a history that spans several decades, Capcom boasts one of the richest and most diverse franchise portfolios in gaming. It would be fantastic to see more of these hidden gems brought back and introduced to new generations!
