New Cars Attraction Coming to Magic Kingdom

New Cars Attraction Coming to Magic Kingdom

As a long-time Disney enthusiast and diehard gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating virtual landscapes, I must say that the announcement of a new Cars ride at Magic Kingdom is music to my ears! Growing up with the Cars franchise and its spin-offs, it’s fascinating to see how this beloved series continues to evolve.

At the second day of the massive D23 event, Disney/Pixar highlighted upcoming partnerships with well-known gaming series, fresh animated ventures including those from Marvel, plus new attractions set to appear at various Disney parks globally. One intriguing unveil involved a brand-new ride connected to the Cars franchise, scheduled to begin construction in an overhauled part of Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. Instead of Disneyland, which features a complete district dedicated to the bustling Radiator Springs, or Disneyland Paris where they journey along Route 66, Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater will now navigate mountain trails.

In simple terms, Josh D’Amaro, the Chairman of Disney Experiences, stated during the event that the spirit of the American West is about maintaining a forward-looking attitude, trusting in oneself, forging one’s own destiny, and working towards success. This ethos applies to everyone, whether they are miners in the mountains, animals from rural areas, a princess from the swamps, or racecars from bustling cities.

The first pit stop includes a thrilling rally race through wild terrain climbing mountain trails, dodging geysers and splashing through mudholes. If something less thrilling is more your speed, there is another attraction that is family-friendly, though it is geared toward smaller racers. Not much else has been disclosed, however various concept art images were also shared which show various racers bearing the terrain of the frontier. Another image shows them crossing the finish line while McQueen, Mater, and other cars cheer them on. Construction on the area will begin in early 2025.

Back in 2006, I was part of a game-changing adventure that went by the name “Cars”. This movie, filled with family fun and animated wonders, made a whopping $400 million at the global box office, all on a budget of around $120 million. Critics might’ve given it a hard time initially, but who could resist its charm? Fast forward to today, and not one, but two sequels were produced in 2011 and 2017, each adding their unique chapters to the story.

The “Cars” franchise has achieved massive popularity, consistently generating new products and thrilling ventures. In addition to numerous short films throughout the years, Pixar introduced an animated series centered around Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater as they journeyed across the nation. This series was premiered in 2022 on Disney+ Day. The “Cars” franchise has grossed over $1 billion worldwide across all movies.

Stay tuned to ComicBook for news and updates on the upcoming park attractions.
