New Chainsaw Man Movie Hypes Debut With New Posters & Staff

As a diehard Chainsaw Man fan who has followed this epic manga since its inception, I can’t contain my excitement about MAPPA Studio’s upcoming adaptation of “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.” This arc is one of my favorites from the series due to its thrilling action sequences and the intricate development of supporting characters like Reze.

Last year at Jump Festa 2024, MAPPA Studio unveiled the upcoming movie “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.” Following a year’s worth of minimal updates, fans were thrilled to receive substantial information about the eagerly awaited film during Jump Festa 2025. At this year’s event, MAPPA debuted the first trailer for the movie, featuring intense action sequences between Denji and several new devil characters. Manga enthusiasts would immediately recognize these new devil characters as Bomb Girl and Typhoon Devil, making their animation debut in the film. The trailer primarily emphasized Denji’s relationships with Makima and a new character named Reze.

In addition to unveiling the movie’s official trailer, it also disclosed the primary team behind the production. Most of these individuals were previously involved with the anime series, such as composer Kensuke Ushio. Tatsuya Yoshihara assumes the role of director for this film, while Masato Nakazono, who held the position of Chief Episode Director in the anime, steps into the role of assistant director. Hiroshi Seko remains attached to the movie as the sole screenwriter. The author of Chainsaw Man‘s manga, Tatsuki Fujimoto, is acknowledged for the original story, and he’s also responsible for adapting the Bomb Girl character from the comic. Two new posters have been revealed: one showcasing Chainsaw Man in his gruesome glory, and another focusing on a heartfelt moment between Denji and Reze. The film is set to hit theaters in 2025.

The Reze Arc Is Chainsaw Man’s Next Canonical Story

Chainsaw Man – Movie: Reze Arc – This movie adapts the fifth storyline from the Chainsaw Man comic book, focusing on Denji and his companion Reze’s escapades. The arc is also recognized as the Bomb Girl arc and contributes to the ongoing Gun Devil plot that was introduced early in the series. The Reze arc is particularly popular among fans due to the endearing appeal of the character, Reze.

The Reze arc marks the middle of the Public Safety Saga, the first part of the manga. Here, the Gun Devil is portrayed as the primary villain in the early arcs, with Denji and his colleagues battling smaller devils to reach it. However, the saga eventually transforms into a larger conflict against an even more formidable adversary. The second saga, called the Academy Saga, takes the series in a new direction with new characters. Fans are eagerly waiting for MAPPA to adapt the rest of the manga, although there’s no official news about Season 2 of the anime yet.
