New Dave the Diver: In the Jungle DLC Announced

As a die-hard fan of Dave the Diver since its splashy debut in 2023, I’ve been hooked ever since I took my first dive into the Blue Hole with our intrepid hero, Dave. The latest announcement at The Game Awards has me reeling like a freshly caught fish! With over 5 million copies sold worldwide, it’s clear that Mint Rocket isn’t ready to say goodbye to the crew just yet.

2023 saw the release of the indie pixel art game “Dave the Diver,” which has since gained immense popularity for its daytime scuba diving adventures and nighttime sushi service. Consequently, a wealth of new content has been added, including the appearance of Godzilla and collaborations with other popular indie games like “Dredge” and “Balatro.” Intriguingly, this year’s Mint Rocket announcement at The Game Awards brings another DLC for “Dave the Diver.

Dave the Diver recently celebrated selling over 5 million copies worldwide, and his new DLC announcement proves that Mint Rocket isn’t moving on from the Blue Hole just yet. Or at least, they’re not moving on from the Dave the Diver crew, who may be headed for new waters.

The upcoming DLC, titled “In the Wilderness“, is set to transport the Bancho Sushi team to diverse environments, promising a multitude of new fish to reel in. The trailer hints at a challenging jungle adventure for Dave, Bancho, and their crew, as they prepare for a seemingly arduous expedition. Along the journey, Dave greets some friendly dolphin acquaintances, suggesting that this time, players won’t be fishing in The Blue Hole alone.

The trailer mainly sets a mood rather than providing specific details about upcoming content. However, it’s probable that the DLC will carry on the custom of fishing during the day and serving sushi at night. It’s uncertain whether we’ll establish a brand new sushi restaurant or reintroduce jungle catches to the original Bancho Sushi establishment. The future holds these mysteries.

Dave the Diver: In the Jungle is slated for a “Late 2025” launch, so we’ll have to be patient for more underwater adventures and delicious fish and sushi recipes at Bancho Sushi. While the exact platforms haven’t been announced yet, it’s expected that the game will be available on PC through Steam and Nintendo Switch.
