As a longtime follower of Hideo Kojima and his enigmatic game reveals, I can hardly contain my excitement for what seems to be another tantalizing tease for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach! With Gamescom Opening Night Live just around the corner, I’m eagerly awaiting the unveiling of this new character that has been hinted at in Kojima’s latest poster.
It appears a fresh figure in “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” may have been subtly hinted before Gamescom 2024. Typically, renowned director Hideo Kojima enjoys unveiling surprises for his games at events organized by host and producer Geoff Keighley. In recent times, Kojima has graced Keighley’s The Game Awards to reveal “Death Stranding 2” and “OD,” the latter being his enigmatic collaboration with Xbox. With Keighley scheduled to host Gamescom Opening Night Live tomorrow, Kojima is sending out hints that he will participate in the event.
Today on social media, Kojima dropped a fresh poster for Death Stranding 2. The design sports the outline of one of the game’s characters and the question “Who Am I?” at its heart. In the past, Kojima has been known to unveil similar images before announcing that stars like Elle Fanning, Norman Reedus, and Shioli Kutsuna would join the project. Right now, there’s a buzz about who this central figure might be in this image, with many theories swirling around. However, it seems we’re on the brink of a big reveal, which I can hardly wait for!

It’s highly possible that the unveiling of a new character for Death Stranding 2 will take place tomorrow during Gamescom Opening Night Live, starting at 2pm ET/11am PT. The fact that Kojima and Keighley have worked together in the past supports this prediction, and Keighley even shared this image on his personal social media accounts. However, it’s uncertain if Kojima will personally attend Gamescom in Germany to discuss Death Stranding 2.
At present, it’s confirmed that “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” is being developed for PlayStation 5 and is expected to launch in 2025. This is one of three games Kojima Productions is currently working on, with the second being “OD,” which will be exclusive to Xbox. The third project is a collaboration between Kojima Productions and PlayStation, tentatively named “Physint.” Although this game is far off, it marks Hideo Kojima’s return to the stealth-action genre that he made famous with the Metal Gear series.
