New Digimon Anime Announced for 2025: Watch the Teaser

2025’s Digimon Convention was an extravaganza, packed with everything Digimon-related. This annual event is all about honoring the franchise’s achievements and providing glimpses into future projects. Usually, announcements at Digimon Con are modest, primarily focusing on merchandise and hinting at upcoming projects such as video games. However, 2025’s Digimon Convention offered a smorgasbord of fresh insights about the brand. These included details about the Digimon x Godzilla collaborations, new cards for the Digimon Trading Card Game, footage from the Digimon Beyond project, and additional information about the Digimon Story: Time Stranger game. The event concluded with a dramatic finale, revealing a teaser for the upcoming anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, slated for release in October 2025.

An unintended release of the “Digimon Beatbreak” site occurred just a few hours following the commencement of Digimon Con. The teaser for “Beatbreak” follows close behind the fresh footage of “Digimon Beyond,” revealing a new protagonist and their Digimon companion veiled in purple. This character is dressed comically with oversized glasses, a white coat, and a shirt emblazoned with a striking yellow insignia. The Digimon companion sports spikes on its head, a broad round face, a long serpentine tail, a drooping tongue, and a crescent moon marking its forehead. The official site provides no new details about “Beatbreak,” leaving fans to speculate on the series’ plotline.

Digimon Returning to Animation After Brief Hiatus

Following the conclusion of “Digimon: Ghost Game” in 2023, the animation branch of Digimon took a short break. During this period, Bandai concentrated on expanding other Digimon brands such as the card game and the virtual vital bracelet. A web novel series called “Digimon Seekers”, published by Bandai from 2023 to 2024, was used to promote the vital bracelets. Regrettably, the bracelets were phased out around 2024, but some enthusiasts are optimistic that the company might reintroduce them. Currently, “Digimon Liberator” is a webcomic that is serving as a promotional tool for the widely acclaimed Digimon Card Game.

Although web novels and comics are enjoyable supplements, animation has always been where the Digimon franchise truly thrives, given its origins from the 1999 Digimon Adventure anime that solidified the brand’s global recognition. The teaser for Digimon Beyond shown at Digimon Con 2025 offers a tantalizing glimpse into potential new journeys for the original cast of the first Digimon series. Furthermore, the hint of Beatbreak suggests an innovative direction for the franchise with its unique-looking main Digimon. With the franchise’s return to animation, fans are overjoyed.
