Freddie Fox will appear in the new season of Doctor Who as a “fearsome villain”.
As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that the talented actor, John Upton Fox, known for his roles in shows like Slow Horses and House of the Dragon, will take on an extraordinary character in an upcoming series. This character hails from another planet and finds itself squaring off against the Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa) and his latest companion, Belinda Chandra, portrayed by Varada Sethu.
Showrunner Russell T Davies declared, “He’s an outstanding actor, and he brings rage, poison, cleverness, and stunning antlers to Doctor Who.” Watch out, Doctor!
In the year 2015, Fox portrayed the character Freddie Baxter in Russell T. Davies’s Channel 4 play, Cucumber, as well as its spin-off series on E4, titled Banana.
Davies remarked, ‘Ten years have passed since my collaboration with Freddie on the project Cucumber, and it’s wonderful to honor this milestone.’

According to him, he thoroughly enjoyed working on this series and felt privileged to contribute to Russell’s extraordinary, eccentric, yet captivating concept.
Not only was it extraordinary to collaborate with the renowned Doctor Ncuti Gatwa, but the experience was indescribably unique. If viewers find even a fraction of the joy in watching it that I had while creating it, televisions everywhere might just burst from sheer excitement!
For the upcoming season, Fox has added the fox (as a metaphor) to its roster of stars, and there will be a role for Alan Cumming as Mr Ring-a-Ding, a mischievous animated character causing chaos in an episode set in 1952.
Additionally appearing are Christopher Chung, Rose Ayling-Ellis, and familiar faces from UNIT, including Jemma Redgrave and Bonnie Langford.

Eight episodes make up the upcoming season, with scriptwriting contributions from Russell T Davies as well as fresh voices like Pete McTighe, Juno Dawson, Inua Ellams, and Sharma Angel-Walfall.
As a dedicated cinephile, I’m excited to share that the timeless series “Doctor Who” is being brought to life by Bad Wolf in collaboration with BBC Studios and Disney. Starting from 12th April, you can catch it airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer here in the UK. For viewers outside of the UK, fear not! You’ll be able to stream it on Disney Plus.
According to a recent announcement about its premiere date, it turns out that the past series of episodes consistently ranked among the top 5 most-watched shows worldwide each week they were broadcast on Disney Plus.
