As a dedicated Dragon Ball fan with a lifelong passion for the series, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment when yet another exciting game like Dragon Ball Super Divers is exclusive to Japan. It feels like a never-ending cycle of anticipation followed by a harsh reality check. But let’s face it, who needs physical cards when we have the digital ones?
Over the past month or so, Dragon Ball enthusiasts have been preoccupied with both “Dragon Ball Daima” and “Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.” However, in Japan itself, another Dragon Ball game was about to end its run. This is Dragon Ball Heroes, a card game that has captured Japan’s heart for almost 14 years and proven to be incredibly profitable. In 2023, this iconic game decided to close shop to make way for a new one: “Dragon Ball Super Divers.” Although it might be challenging for those outside of Japan to play this game, potential spin-offs could bring benefits to Dragon Ball fans worldwide.
For those not familiar, “Dragon Ball Heroes” was a Japanese arcade card game that existed digitally without any physical cards or collections. Although the primary game was exclusive to Japan, it spawned spin-offs and adaptations for platforms like the Nintendo Switch and PC, such as “Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission.” It also had manga and animated series adaptations, both of which concluded when the game reached its end after a successful run.
Currently, we’re excited about the new game titled “Dragon Ball Super Divers“. Since its announcement earlier in 2024, the official Dragon Ball website has been sharing updates on Dragon Ball Super Divers with fans worldwide. Similar to other card games, players will open packs within Dragon Ball Super Divers to accumulate cards featuring characters such as Goku, Goten, Gohan, Trunks, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Android 18, Frieza, Majin Buu, Hercule, Cell, Jiren, Bardock, Hit, Beerus, Whis, and many more you’d anticipate in a game like this. Dragon Ball Super Divers made its debut this week, but at the moment, it’s only available in Japan.

Similar to Dragon Ball Heroes, a source of discontent for numerous Dragon Ball enthusiasts who will find themselves unable to play the upcoming Dragon Ball game unless they travel to Japan. Already, a standalone chapter of Dragon Ball Super Divers manga has been published, and later this year, a full series titled Dragon Ball Super Divers – Let’s Super Dive!! will debut.
