New Editor Sparks Major One Piece Revolution!

The classic manga “One Piece” is about to embark on a fresh chapter in its storyline this year, and an exciting change is happening backstage as a new editor takes the helm. Since its debut in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1997, Eiichiro Oda’s “One Piece” has been a powerhouse action franchise, and now, with the second arc of the Final Saga unfolding, it will receive new guidance for its upcoming installments.

In the newest edition of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, Eiichiro Oda announced that he’s welcoming a new editor for his popular series “One Piece”. As translated by Viz Media, Oda expressed his gratitude to Anayama, his previous editor, and warmly welcomed Fukuda as the new member of the team. This change marks the 13th editor for “One Piece” overall, with Fukuda joining two years after Anayama took over editorial responsibilities in 2023. Essentially, this signifies a fresh start or new phase for the series.

Who Is One Piece’s New Editor?

Over the past two years, Kaito Anayama has been handling his editorial responsibilities for “One Piece”. Now, Junya Fukuda is stepping into that role, having worked with series like “Black Clover” and “Jujutsu Kaisen” during his time with Shonen Jump. Notably, Fukuda had hinted at the impending conclusion of “Jujutsu Kaisen”. Given this background, it’s safe to assume that “One Piece” is in capable hands under Fukuda’s leadership. It’s also expected that the magazine will continue to experience changes as Oda progresses through the ongoing Elbaf arc. With each new chapter, we inch closer to the grand finale, making the story even more intriguing than before.

2021 is an excellent moment to begin following the series, as it’s currently making a strong comeback after a series of interruptions and delays scheduled until late 2024. Eiichiro Oda, the creator, took a short hiatus from the series to oversee the production for Season 2 of Netflix’s live-action One Piece, promising that it would surpass the quality of the first season. However, with the start of the new year, there have been changes in the schedule due to this break, but the progress is picking up again.

What’s Next for the One Piece Manga?

Speaking about the ongoing “One Piece” manga, it’s now publishing new chapters weekly after a series of interruptions. Over two decades since the introduction of Giants during the Little Garden arc, Luffy and his Straw Hat crew have finally reached the long-awaited giant homeland, Elbaf. This is part of the second significant arc for the Final Saga, where we can expect major revelations about the future as the search for the One Piece treasure truly gets underway.

Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hats, are among several groups pursuing the treasure, but the grand reveal about the Straw Hat Grand Fleet is yet to unfold, suggesting a major battle lies ahead before the story concludes. This epic tale of One Piece still has many mysteries to unravel, including involvement from the Marines, Imu, and others. It’s possible that the series could reach its end with its current editor as well.
