New Free Steam Game Leaves Users Confused

It seems that Steam has temporarily made one of the last decade’s most popular games available free for 24 hours, but the process turned out to be intricate and perplexing, leaving gamers disappointed. Known for its frequent outrageous sales that both save and strain your finances, Steam is a top gaming platform. The value of your money stretches further on Steam than at most other places, which benefits budget-conscious gamers or those looking to expand their game collection with titles they missed out on. Additionally, Steam Deck owners might also be interested in playing some quality games on the go.

Users of Steam discovered that for a 24-hour period, the game “Hitman: World of Assassination” was given away for free. At first glance, this seems like an excellent offer since IO Interactive combined their three latest Hitman games into one package called “Hitman: World of Assassination”. It would appear that you’d receive all three remade Hitman games and their additional levels without paying a dime. However, things became quite confusing. There are actually four different versions of the game available for purchase on the same Steam page, including a VR version of “Hitman”, along with a completely separate, free starter pack.

It appears that what you played was merely one level from the 2016 version of Hitman, specifically the Sapienza level where your character, Agent 47, embarks on an Italian mission to eliminate a bioweapon and its creator. To clarify, this is a fantastic level and a delightful introduction to the game, but it’s not the entire trilogy or even the full first game. Instead, it seems more like a free demo of the game, as each level was released episodically in 2016. In contrast, the sequels offer all levels at once, which is why Sapienza can be enjoyed independently unlike other games in the series.

Fans remain puzzled as they’re required to download a massive 70GB file for the new game, equivalent in size to all three Hitman installments. However, it appears that Steam only downloads the content necessary for this single level, with no access to other levels unless you upgrade your version. This has left fans somewhat bewildered by IO Interactive’s approach to the Hitman series. Let’s hope they avoid similar strategies when developing their upcoming game, Project 007.

This is the most confusing shit I’ve ever redeemed, but free is free, whatever I get out of it.

It’s astonishing how they persistently make it more difficult to buy this game, especially after introducing the Sapienza Edition last December. Previously, Hitman 1 episodes were often discounted significantly. This game is a work of art, but their actions are questionable and seem quite underhanded.

I’m curious about why they can implement such a complex and poorly designed purchasing system, particularly with the “Hitman World of Assassination” bundle on sale. It seems that it only includes Hitman 1, requiring an additional purchase for the remaining content.

It seems like the game series “Hitman” has faced some significant issues in its recent releases. Instead of building upon previous games or offering a cohesive experience, the new versions feel disjointed, with content from earlier games added into later ones haphazardly. The presentation is confusing, and the content feels fragmented due to DLC packs and unnecessary additions.
