New God of War Ragnarok Update Will Fix One of the Game's Biggest Criticisms

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of quirks and bugs in games, but the persistent hints in God of War Ragnarok were starting to grate on my nerves like a level 900 boss battle. The constant nudges from companions felt more like a spoiler alert than a helpful hint, ruining the joy of figuring things out for myself.

An upcoming patch for “God of War Ragnarok” is set to roll out on both PS5 and PS4, addressing a common issue that numerous players have faced with the game. It’s worth noting that this week saw the PC release of “Ragnarok,” making it the latest PlayStation first-party game to debut on the platform. This development is certainly exciting for fans who have been yearning to experience “GoW Ragnarok” since its 2022 launch. Simultaneously, Santa Monica Studio has managed to resolve a persistent problem linked to the game.

In addition to the unveiling of God of War Ragnarok on PC, Santa Monica Studio has announced a new feature that allows players to disable puzzle hints within the game’s settings. This option will lessen the number of times you hear hints about puzzles from your in-game companions for those who choose to enable it. Since its release in 2022, some players have found these early hints from characters to be a nuisance as they’ve been accused of providing solutions to puzzles too quickly after being presented with them.

Apart from the existing features in God of War Ragnarok, Santa Monica Studio has incorporated an Audio Description feature as well. This accessibility setting aims to describe visual events during cinematics audibly, offering extra contextual information along with the dialogue to enhance the gameplay experience for visually impaired players. While most players may not utilize this option, it’s commendable that Santa Monica Studio has included it for those who require it.

At this moment, the only disadvantage with the latest additions to God of War Ragnarok is that they aren’t accessible in the PS5 and PS4 versions of the game just yet. However, Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that these features will be added in a future update for GoW Ragnarok on console platforms, though they haven’t specified when exactly this update will be released. In the meantime, players on PC can already enjoy these settings.
