This news excites God of War fans who own a PS5 or PS5 Pro, yet the latest report contradicts previous rumors suggesting a remastered collection of the earlier God of War games might be in production.
The recent findings were shared by Jeff Grubb, a highly influential figure within the industry who usually provides accurate insights, although it’s important to note that his history of leaks and inside info isn’t always spot-on. To put it simply, he has been incorrect on occasion, but infrequently.
Regrettably, Grubb provides limited information about the game, however, he labels it as a “side tale” and hints that it will transport Kratos back to ancient Greece, the location of the series prior to God of War 2018, which shifted the narrative to Norse mythology.
According to Grubb’s statement, it appears there will indeed be a new release based on the Greek God of War this year. However, contrary to some speculations, this is not a remastered collection. Instead, it seems to be a standalone side-story project. Regarding rumors about a remastered collection, Grubb hasn’t been informed about it, but he did confirm that there won’t be any God of War-related announcements at the State of Play. However, something related might surface during their anniversary event.
