As a die-hard fan of Shadow the Hedgehog, I am beyond excited for the year 2024! This iconic Sega character is finally getting the recognition and merchandise he deserves. The announcement of a new LEGO set dedicated solely to Shadow’s head might seem small at first, but as someone who grew up playing Sonic Adventure 2 on Dreamcast, I appreciate the attention to detail.
In simple terms, starting from 2024, Shadow the Hedgehog takes center stage at Sega with various initiatives underway. GameSpot first announced that a new LEGO set dedicated to the character will be available on October 1st for $70. Unlike the previous set, this one highlights only Shadow’s head, attached to a base with a nameplate. The LEGO Shadow the Hedgehog set is designed based on his debut in “Sonic Adventure 2,” and the packaging showcases artwork from the Dreamcast game.

The Shadow LEGO set comes with a number of tiny rings similar to those included in past Sonic sets. In the shadow figure’s head, you’ll find a miniature Chaos Emerald. The entire set comprises 720 pieces. Currently, it’s unclear whether LEGO intends to create comparable sets for other Sonic characters or if this is an exclusive Shadow production. For dedicated fans, this set could be an excellent addition to their collection when displayed with other Sega memorabilia. However, compared to the Shadow the Hedgehog Escape set, it offers fewer play possibilities as it doesn’t include Shadow’s iconic Dark Rider motorcycle.
Regarding the Dark Rider motorcycle replica, as part of Sega’s “Year of Shadow” campaign in 2024, one was produced. This life-size version is currently traveling across the country for fans to take photos with it. Sega is going all out for Shadow this year, with LEGO sets and a touring Dark Rider, or through video games. On October 25th, we have the release of Sonic x Shadow Generations, coming only a few weeks after the Shadow LEGO set. All these activities lead up to Shadow’s significant role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where Keanu Reeves will lend his voice to the character.
