As a huge fan of both horror films and intricately crafted narratives, I was absolutely blown away by NEON’s “Longlegs.” The movie initially appeared to be just another serial killer story, but as the layers began to peel back, it became clear that this was something far more complex and thought-provoking.


At first glance, NEON’s “Longlegs” appears to be a chilling tale about tracking down a monstrous serial killer. However, viewers who have braved the terror report that the film offers much more depth. In fact, it’s been unveiled that Satan has been subtly manipulating some characters in the background. A new promotional material for the movie showcases just how frequently this ominous presence has been lurking, encouraging audiences to rewatch and scrutinize every dark corner for hidden details. FBI agent Lee Harker, played by Maika Monroe, is a talented rookie who joins the team investigating an elusive serial killer (Nicolas Cage). The case becomes increasingly intricate as they uncover signs of the supernatural. Shockingly, Harker uncovers a chilling personal link to the ruthless murderer and must act quickly to prevent him from taking any more innocent lives.

As a gamer immersed in this story, I can tell you that Perkins skillfully used different screen sizes to mark the distinction between past and present events. He didn’t stop there; he added photographs, newspaper clippings, and even real phone call audio to make it feel less like a traditional movie and more like an engaging mixed-media experience.

In Ng’s opinion, the most difficult aspect of the film is its concluding section. This is due to the need to resolve the backstory of all the elements currently unfolding, while integrating Longlegs and addressing any missing pieces, without overwhelming the audience with excessive information.

In the end, we unravel both the mom’s tale and the true intentions of Longlegs, an intriguing yet difficult segment to decipher. It brings to mind the prologue in “The Lord of the Rings,” distinct but connected through narration and storytelling.
