Sony Pictures has scheduled the movie to premiere on May 9, 2025, which coincidentally falls on Mother’s Day weekend. Notably, this is a week after Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” is set to hit theaters.
According to trade reports, Sony is promoting “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” as a film geared towards women and has scheduled its release date close to Blake Lively’s new movie, “It Ends With Us,” which unexpectedly earned $50 million worldwide on its opening weekend and surpassed $100 million within its first week. This suggests that the studio is investing in female-centric films with strong leading actresses, a trend that Scarlett Johansson started with the massive success of her “Barbie” movie.
The movie titled “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” revolves around two individuals, Robbie and Farrell, who discover an unusual connection in their lives. The cast includes Lily Rabe, known for her role in “American Horror Story”, Jodie Turner-Smith from “Star Wars: The Acolyte”, Phoebe Waller-Bridge of “Fleabag” and “Solo”, Hamish Linklater from “Batman: Caped Crusader”. Kogonada is set to direct the film. The producers are Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas, Ryan Friedkin of Imperative Entertainment, along with Seith Reiss (who also wrote the script) and Youree Henley.
Margot Robbie is stepping into a fresh phase in her life, now as both a mother-to-be and a Hollywood executive. Following the success of Barbie, Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap, secured a first-look deal with Warner Bros., paving the way for her to create and distribute her own projects. This lineup already includes a Monopoly film with Lionsgate, a collaboration with Olivia Wilde on an adaptation of Avengelyne, a character created by Deadpool’s creator Rob Liefeld, and a Sims movie directed by Kate Herron, who has worked with Marvel’s Loki.

Currently, in the year 2024, Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney have a fresh perspective on actress Robie following the success of Barbie. They’re considering incorporating her into the Pirates of the Caribbean universe.
Bruckheimer shared earlier this year that he hopes to have both films produced, and he believes that Disney is also keen on making the film featuring Margot as well.
