As a seasoned Mass Effect gamer with over a decade of galactic adventures under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of intrigue and disappointment upon hearing about this cut content in the original trilogy. The idea of Shepard’s sprint animations changing based on morality is an exciting prospect that could have added another layer to the game’s immersion.
At this point, a fresh Mass Effect title is being crafted by BioWare, but it’s still quite a distance away. It’s speculated that it might be designed for the PS6 and next-generation Xbox consoles. For now, enthusiasts of Mass Effect can revisit the series with Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which they may find themselves playing repeatedly 15 times over. Another option is Mass Effect: Andromeda, yet it doesn’t quite match up to the charm of the original trilogy.
Information about the older Mass Effect games isn’t frequently discovered online due to their long history of being thoroughly explored and analyzed. However, recently, there’s been talk of previously unseen material – some cut content from the games.
It’s been discovered that BioWare, at some stage, was trying out modifications to Shepard’s running style based on his or her morality level. This means that if Shepard was more aligned with good (Paragon), the running animation would be different compared to when he or she leaned towards bad (Renegade). Interestingly, the Renegade sprint animation appears to resemble the running motion of husks.
According to user Orikon’s findings, it appears that at one point, there was a proposal to modify Shepard’s sprint based on moral alignment. In the game files, there are animations labeled “Storm_Paragon” and “Storm_Renegade.” These animations represent the sprinting motion when you press the spacebar, with “Storm” being the generic term for this action.

Currently, neither BioWare itself nor any present or past BioWare developers have made any comments regarding this finding. Given its growing popularity, there’s a chance that might alter in the future. Rest assured, we’ll promptly update the story should that happen.
Likely, this was eliminated to conserve resources since most players opted for Paragon gameplay modes, meaning the animation wouldn’t be visible to a large portion of them. Additionally, producing and integrating such animations isn’t inexpensive.
