As a diehard gamer, I’m super excited to share that the latest expansion for my beloved Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is just around the corner! The Pokémon Company has officially unveiled it as “Celestial Guardians,” promising a galaxy of content tied to the magical world of Pokémon Sun and Moon. Come April 30th, we’ll be able to get our hands on packs containing none other than Solgaleo ex and Lunala ex!
So far, they’ve given us a sneak peek at several cards for this expansion, among them multiple versions of the starters Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio. Following past trends, we can expect a fusion of fresh artwork alongside some familiar designs from the physical Pokémon TCG. Can’t wait to dive in and see what other surprises await us in the Celestial Guardians expansion!
In Pokemon Sun and Moon, a new region called Alola was introduced, modeled after the beautiful islands of Hawaii. This multitude of islands gave the game a distinctive flavor that made it stand out among its predecessors in the series. Game Freak took inspiration from Hawaii’s culture for the designs of the new Pokemon introduced in this generation, with examples including Comfey, whose design is reminiscent of a lei, and Sandygast, who resides on beaches. The games also presented the idea of regional variations, which Celestial Guardians will incorporate, as shown in the trailer below. Some cards featured include Alolan Raichu and Alolan Marowak, with the latter boasting an elegant full-art card design.
Beyond fresh Pokemon, the series introduced intriguing Trainers in Sun and Moon, which will appear as Supporter Cards in the upcoming set. Characters such as Sophocles, Lana, Kiawe, and even Rotom’s Pokedex version have been confirmed. If you were captivated by the games or the anime seasons derived from them, Celestial Guardians appears to offer much to look forward to.
As April 30th rapidly approaches, eager fans won’t have to wait much longer to add these fresh cards to their collection in the game. It’s been around a month since we got our hands on Shining Revelry, and it’s been a while since we received a complete set, with the last one being Space-Time Smackdown back in January. Given this, it feels like an ideal moment for The Pokemon Company to introduce Celestial Guardians, providing long-overdue attention to a generation that has been somewhat overlooked in TCG Pocket. While there are still many other generations waiting for their share of cards, it’s possible we’ll see those arrive in later expansions. For now, let Alola take center stage!
Ever since its launch towards the end of last year, “Pokemon TCG Pocket” has consistently introduced fresh content. The Pokemon Company has been very active in supporting this game, introducing expansions, themed booster packs, and various in-game events. This rapid succession of new cards presents a challenge for many players to complete sets before the next ones arrive, but it also keeps them engaged and coming back for more. Moreover, the older packs remain available, giving devoted players the opportunity to continue opening those even as newer sets become available.
