As a seasoned gamer with decades of Pokemon TCG experience under my belt, I must say, the latest leak about the release date for “Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Journey Together” has sent shockwaves through our community! The return of Trainer’s Pokemon cards is like a sweet nostalgia trip that I didn’t know I needed.
In August, The Pokemon Company announced the comeback of Trainer’s Pokemon cards, which represent popular trainers from the franchise. Initially, we were aware of a few Trainers and Pokemon that would be included in the collection, with an expected release date in 2025. However, thanks to a recent leak from PokeBeach, the release window has been significantly reduced. It seems that “Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Journey Together,” scheduled for March 28th, will include cards from the “Battle Partners” set set to be released in Japan next month. Additionally, PokeBeach speculates that our set may also feature cards based on pre-constructed decks inspired by Marnie and Steven from Japan.
Just as you might doubt any unverified information or news, consider this one with some skepticism. However, it’s important to note that PokeBeach has shown to be a trustworthy source in the past, and the release schedule seems to align well. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Prismatic Evolutions is scheduled for release on January 17th in North America, so a March 28th launch date for Journey Together could be possible. Although The Pokemon Company hasn’t officially announced anything yet, we have seen previews of English cards from the set thanks to a trailer that was shown at Pokemon Worlds. You can watch the trailer below.
The idea of a Trainer’s Pokemon dates back to the initial stages of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, particularly with the Gym Heroes expansion (known as Leader’s Stadium in Japan). This set featured cards inspired by the Gym Leaders from the first generation of Pokemon games. These cards, such as Brock’s Onix and Misty’s Psyduck, incorporated mini images of the Trainer. Over the years, Trainer’s Pokemon cards have been consistently introduced in the Pokemon TCG. However, it has been quite some time since we’ve seen any new ones!
In the video, you’ll notice that cards in “Journey Together” will display artwork of the corresponding Trainer, similar to how the Pokemon franchise has showcased popular Gym Leaders and Trainers throughout its decades-long history. It’s likely that some well-known Trainers will be included in “Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Journey Together”, although we can’t say for certain who they might be. However, based on the cards shown in the trailer, it seems that Lillie, N, and Marnie will all make an appearance. The trailer also suggests other Trainers’ Pokemon, such as Arven’s Mabosstiff, but it remains to be seen if they will feature in “Journey Together” or a future set. According to PokeBeach, Iono is expected to appear on booster packs and boxes in North America, given her role in the “Pokemon Scarlet and Violet” games on Switch. This leads us to assume that her character will play a significant part.
