A fresh horror video game has been unveiled, promising to take gamers on a trip down memory lane to the PS1-era when games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill ruled the horror genre. Although gaming, even in the horror niche, has made significant strides since then, there’s a substantial portion of horror enthusiasts who yearn for those classic titles. Despite their outdated appearance, these older horror games possess an authentic charm that contemporary games with cutting-edge graphics, motion capture technology, and advanced audio can’t quite match. Consequently, an increasing number of new horror games are being developed to recreate this bygone era and cater to the craving for it.

View Urgent ForecastA recent instance is “Flesh Made Fear,” a horror game developed by Tainted Pact Games in partnership with Assemble Entertainment. Expected to launch in the last quarter of 2025, it will be available exclusively on PC. Interestingly, they’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to gather funds for extra features and console versions as well.
Without leaving any room for doubt, the latest horror video game draws significant influence from the timeless Resident Evil series, as explicitly stated in its development process. While Silent Hill isn’t directly named as an inspiration, it’s clear that elements of that franchise have also played a role in shaping this new creation.
“From the creators of indie horror hits Massacre at the Mirage, Suffer the Night, and Terror at Oakheart, comes Flesh Made Fear, the ultimate survival horror experience by Tainted Pact Games,” reads an official description of the game. “Descend into a world of horrifying experiments and occult rituals where every step plunges you deeper into madness. Featuring the survival mechanics that define the genre, reimagined with heart-stopping innovations, this game invites you to confront your fears like never before. Will you face the nightmare? Or will the nightmare consume you?”
At this moment, it’s uncertain how much the game “Flesh Made Fear” will cost upon release, its duration, or when further information about it will be revealed. Its anticipated release date is also yet to be disclosed. However, as usual, we welcome your opinions and thoughts about this PS1-style horror game. What do you think it looks like?
