New PS5 Game Already Highlights a Huge Issue With the PS5 Pro

As a long-time PlayStation enthusiast who’s witnessed the evolution of consoles since the days of the original PlayStation, I must admit that I find myself somewhat concerned about the PS5 Pro. The lackluster number of games “enhanced” for it at launch was disappointing, but the recent release of LEGO Horizon Adventures without any PS5 Pro enhancements is a real red flag.

The recently launched PS5 Pro has revealed a potential major problem it may face, as only around 100 games have been optimized for the console so far. This is quite sparse considering Sony aims to persuade PlayStation enthusiasts to spend $700 for this upgrade, just to experience these enhancements. However, it seems the situation might worsen, given that…

Yesterday, LEGO Horizon Adventures by PlayStation and Guerrilla Games was launched on Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC. Although it may not be the largest release from PlayStation this console generation, it’s a significant one, particularly in 2025 and during this holiday season. In truth, it represents PlayStation’s headline holiday game, hailing from one of its most prominent and revered studios, Guerrilla Games. However, it does not accommodate the PS5 Pro.

The recently launched PlayStation version doesn’t include any improvements for the PS5 Pro, and there’s no indication that this will change anytime soon. To be fair, LEGO Horizon Adventures isn’t a game that would fully utilize the capabilities of the PS5 Pro, but considering it’s the first release since the unveiling of the PS5 Pro, it might have been nice to see some upgrades for early adopters. In other words, this new release doesn’t seem to cater to the needs of those who were among the earliest to adopt the PS5 Pro.

Not only is the current situation for the PS5 Pro less than ideal, but potential issues now might cause problems in the long run. If Sony isn’t enforcing the PS5 Pro standard even within its own studios, it raises questions about how they plan to encourage support from external developers. This is particularly concerning because developing for the console requires significant resources, which could deter many partners, especially smaller ones.

It’s natural to anticipate strong support for a new game, especially since it’s the first one released after the PS5 Pro. However, the fact that this game overlooked the PS5 raises questions about what we can expect when the console becomes less central and easier to ignore in future games.

Currently, Sony PlayStation and Guerrilla Games haven’t shared any reasons behind the lack of upgrades for LEGO Horizon Adventures on the PS5 Pro at the time of release. If there are updates regarding this matter, we’ll make sure to keep you informed. For now, if you’re interested in more coverage about the PS5 Pro, feel free to explore here.
