New Street Fighter Movie Targeting Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns

Capcom’s upcoming live-action Street Fighter film, being produced by Legendary Pictures, is considering Jason Momoa from the Minecraft movie and Roman Reigns of WWE for its cast. Additionally, actors like Andrew Koji (Bullet Train) and Noah Centineo (Warfare) are also in contention for roles.

It’s uncertain which character Momoa is being considered for, but there are strong whispers suggesting he might take on the role of Blanka, the green-skinned Brazilian fighter from Street Fighter 2.

Previously, there have been other live-action versions of Street Fighter, with one notable instance starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile and Kylie Minogue as Cammy. Despite receiving negative reviews initially, it proved to be a financial success and has since gained cult popularity – even inspiring a spin-off game reminiscent of Mortal Kombat, which served as the North American launch title for the original PlayStation.

Other real-life Street Fighter films, such as “The Legend of Chun-Li” featuring Kristin Kreuk, have received widespread criticism and have yet to develop a cult following.

Apart from this upcoming adaptation, Capcom also has other projects in the pipeline, one of which is a Resident Evil movie reboot being developed alongside Sony and PlayStation Productions. The director for this project is Zach Cregger, who is known for his work on Barbarian, and it’s scheduled to release on September 18th, 2026.
