It’s being speculated that Bradley Cooper, one of James Gunn’s frequent collaborators, might be cast in his upcoming Superman film as Jor-El. This rumor originated from a tweet by @ViewerAnon who mentioned that Cooper seems to appear early in the Superman movie. However, details about Cooper’s role in the reboot remain unclear. The initial tweet has been removed, but the speculation surrounding Cooper’s potential casting has spread on social media and even been picked up by other accounts.
@ViewerAnon” mentioned that “he makes an appearance within the initial few minutes of the film, hence it’s not much of a spoiler.

It seems that it was my idea, but I must cease from feeling compelled to prove myself when accused of being dishonest.

In the recent past, there were rumors suggesting an exciting twist for the character of Superman, with Tom Cruise and Chris Pratt as potential candidates. However, it seems that Chris Pratt’s involvement is rather doubtful given his ongoing commitments to the Marvel Universe. Although various DC characters are slated to show up in the upcoming Superman movie, there has been no formal announcement about Jor-El being part of the production.
As a devoted cinephile, I’m buzzing with anticipation for this summer as Superman prepares for its theatrical run. This film marks the beginning of the DC Universe reboot, and its performance at the box office could shape not only the destiny of the franchise but also the future of Warner Bros. itself. Some industry insiders are worried that a subpar showing by Superman might lead to WB being sold off like Fox, adding an extraordinary level of pressure on this movie.
Initially, it’s crucial to view this as an unconfirmed report about Cooper possibly being involved in Superman. For now, it’s merely a speculation that might turn out false. However, given Cooper’s past collaborations with Gunn, particularly voicing Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such a team-up wouldn’t be entirely unexpected. It’s unusual for actors to work on both Marvel and DC franchises, but so far, there’s no hint that Cooper will reprise his role as Rocket in any upcoming MCU projects. In addition, he was not among the 27 actors announced for Avengers: Doomsday, and the future of most Guardians of the Galaxy characters is uncertain at this point. At present, only Star-Lord’s return is confirmed, so it’s plausible that Cooper might have finished his association with Marvel.
In line with the tradition of Superman films, Cooper’s potential portrayal of Jor-El could be fitting. Notably, other prominent actors have played this role in past adaptations (Marlon Brando, Russell Crowe). If Jor-El is to appear in Superman, it seems likely that Gunn might opt for a well-known star, and given its reported minimal time commitment, Cooper could be an attractive option. Even though Gunn’s reboot bypasses Superman’s origin story, Jor-El could still play a role through recorded messages at the Fortress of Solitude. We’ll have to wait and see if this rumor holds true, but it would certainly be intriguing to witness Cooper’s interpretation of Jor-El, as his acting talents are capable of making even minor roles shine.
