New Superman TV Spot Released by DC Studios (And it Includes Some New Footage)

Even though James Gunn’s eagerly awaited Superman reboot is still a few months from hitting cinemas globally, it seems Warner Bros. and DC Studios are preparing a grand promotional push before its premiere. The first teaser trailer has already been released, making fans anticipate the Super Bowl in two weeks as a likely date for the full trailer unveiling. In the run-up to these events (including the NFL conference championship games on Sunday afternoon), DC revealed a fresh TV ad for the upcoming movie.

The TV advertisement was uploaded online on Sunday morning, featuring primarily clips similar to those seen in the blockbuster teaser trailer. Yet, it also includes a few fresh shots, centering around two key characters from the movie. Check out the video right at the top of this page!

The advertisement features Lex Luthor disembarking from a colossal airplane in what appears to be a search for the hidden Fortress of Solitude. In the closing moments of the commercial, you’ll notice fresh footage showing Superman soaring through ice and snow, right towards the camera.

Following Henry Cavill’s portrayal of the renowned character, the latest version of Steel Man was given to actor David Corenswet, recognized for his significant supporting roles in “Pearl” and “Twisters”. The main female role in the movie, Lois Lane, was assigned to Rachel Brosnahan, a Emmy-winning star from “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”. Nicholas Hoult, who came close to securing the Bruce Wayne role in “The Batman”, was chosen for Superman’s most well-known adversary, Lex Luthor.

In the cast of Superman, we have Skyler Gisondo portraying Clark’s close friend, Jimmy Olsen; Wendell Pierce takes on the role of Perry White from The Daily Planet; Milly Alcock plays Kara Zor-El, better known as Supergirl; Isabela Merced is Kendra Saunders, also known as Hawkgirl; Nathan Fillion is Guy Gardner, while Sean Gunn steps into Maxwell Lord’s shoes; Edi Gathegi becomes Michael Holt, or Mister Terrific; Maria Gabriela de Faria acts as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampan plays Eve Teschmacher; Anthony Carrigan assumes the character of Rex Mason, famously known as Metamorphosis; Frank Grillo is Rick Flag Sr., and Neva Howell portrays Martha Kent; lastly, Pruitt Taylor Vince takes on the role of Jonathan Kent.

It has been confirmed that Milly Alcock’s Supergirl will star in her very own movie within the DCU. The film titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is expected to hit screens in 2026, approximately a year following the premiere of Superman. Production for this film began earlier this month under the direction of Craig Gillespie, who is known for directing movies like “Cruella” and “I, Tonya“.

Superman flies into theaters on July 11th.
