2025 finds Take-Two Interactive, Bully’s proprietor, offering some encouragement to its enthusiasts. It’s been 19 years since Rockstar Games launched Bully, initially exclusively on the PS2. In those 19 years, Rockstar hasn’t significantly developed the IP beyond the Scholarship Edition in 2008. There have been whispers of a sequel over the years, but they’ve yet to materialize. Sadly, these whispers have now ceased, however, a recent announcement doesn’t completely rule out the possibility of a remastered version.
In a recent meeting with investors, Take-Two Interactive announced they will be releasing four updated versions of games they’ve already published by April 2026. These could include both ported (adapted for other platforms) and remastered (updated with improved graphics and gameplay) versions of their previous titles.
Currently, it appears that two out of the four could possibly be disregarded, as they are speculated to have remakes coming up by the end of this financial year. Specifically, there’s a strong possibility that Grand Theft Auto 4 might be making its return soon.
Here are two unaccounted-for re-releases in the picture. If Take-Two Interactive solely owned Rockstar Games, we could safely guess one of these is Bully, considering that Red Dead Revision 1 (RDR1) and other GTA games have recently been re-released. This would leave Bully, Max Payne, and perhaps L.A. Noire as the prime possibilities. However, Take-Two Interactive also owns 2K Games, expanding the candidate pool to include titles like BioShock, Borderlands, XCOM, and others.
It’s unlikely that Bully will be among the upcoming re-releases, considering Rockstar Games has plans for Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto 4 re-releases soon. It seems improbable they would release three ports or remasters before April 1, 2026. However, there’s a possibility, albeit small, and this gives Bully fans more hope than they had before.
It appears that I’ve heard on several occasions that Rockstar Games has attempted to develop Bully 2, and not just once or twice. Additionally, Take-Two Interactive has been urging Rockstar Games for some time now to release more than just a major GTA or Red Dead Redemption title every five to eight years. This suggests there’s still potential for Bully 2, but it might be more feasible to expect a remastered version of the original game at this stage.
