New Virtua Fighter Showcased in First Teaser Trailer

As a gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a rush of nostalgia hearing about the return of Virtua Fighter. I remember the thrill of those arcade cabinets, the sweaty palms, and the unending battles against friends and strangers alike. The confirmation that a new mainline installment is in development has filled me with an excitement that’s been dormant for far too long.

In the past few years, fighting game series have experienced a resurgence, yet not all timeless ones are currently active. Sega’s Virtua Fighter franchise has occasionally resurfaced in new versions, but it’s been over a decade since we’ve seen a main sequel. Recently, there was an announcement that a new Virtua Fighter game was being developed, and now that project has been officially revealed.

During The Game Awards event, Sega and studio Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio unveiled a first, formal glimpse of the upcoming Virtua Fighter game. While they didn’t reveal the fighter’s official title or display any gameplay footage, they did share a brief teaser trailer featuring pre-rendered cinematic scenes. However, this sneak peek confirms that a new mainline Virtua Fighter is indeed in development. You can watch the trailer below.

Details about the upcoming “Virtua Fighter” game will be revealed soon during a special Direct broadcast on December 13 at 12 AM EST. Keep an eye out for further updates.
