Nicholas Alexander Chavez Criticized for Brat Jesus Halloween Costume

As a fashion enthusiast who has spent countless hours poring over glossy magazines and runway videos, I must say that this year’s celebrity Halloween costumes have truly taken me by surprise! The creativity and dedication put into these outfits are simply astounding.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez is raising eyebrows.

The actor who portrayed Lyle in the TV series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, created by Ryan Murphy, encountered criticism on social media following his post of his “BRAT Supper” Halloween costume.

On November 1st, I – an unabashed fan – found myself utterly captivated by a video shared on Instagram. This wasn’t just any video; it was Nicholas, dressed in a white toga and sandals, echoing depictions of Jesus Christ as he danced to Charli XCX’s hit song “Apple”. The setting? A table that mirrored The Last Supper, flanked by fake figures with arrows through their heads and blood trickling down their faces. Truly a mesmerizing fusion of music, symbolism, and the extraordinary!

Another photo showed him smiling with fake nails in his palms, seemingly depicting Jesus’ crucifixion. Alongside the footage, Nicholas—who is currently starring on Ryan’s Grotesquerie horror drama series as Father Charlie Mayhew—wrote in the caption, “BRAT supper @grotesqueriefx season finale is out now.”

The costume reminded some people of Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous work, “The Last Supper,” as well as the online phenomenon known as “Brat Summer,” which originated due to Charli’s popular album titled “Brat.” However, not everyone appreciated the play on words.

One Instagram user wrote, “Are we making fun of Jesus here?” Another user replied, “I can’t support that approach in this case. Let’s try to avoid using my faith in such a way.

Other criticism called the outfit “weird,” “disrespectful,” “not cute” and “sad.”

However, some countered that the costume worn by the 25-year-old might be indicative of his character in the TV show ‘Grotesquerie’. One user posited, “Isn’t it just for a performance?

And some simply didn’t think Nicholas had any bad intentions.

One spectator chuckled, saying, “This is amusing indeed!” Having been raised in a devout Christian household and identifying as a spiritual individual myself, I can appreciate the humor here. It seems that even the Almighty has more pressing matters on His plate, laugh out loud.

TopMob News reached out to Nicholas’ rep for comment but has not heard back.

As a devoted admirer, I acknowledge that Nicholas has yet to openly respond to the criticisms levied against him. However, in previous conversations, he confided that he’s still adapting to the overwhelming attention he’s received following the release of Monsters.

In a recent interview, he expressed, “How on earth do I manage everything?” He found it intriguing, and above all, fascinating to receive feedback about his work. However, he admitted, it was odd to witness such a widespread reaction.
