Nick Cannon Details Insecurities in Relationship With Mariah Carey

As I delve into the captivating lives of these remarkable women, I can’t help but be struck by their strength, resilience, and unwavering love. Each one has embarked on an extraordinary journey, not just as mothers, but as partners to the charismatic Nick Cannon.

Nick Cannon had a different vision of love than Mariah Carey.

In a recent reflection, the host of “Wild ‘n Out” reminisced about his eight-year union with the artist known for “We Belong Together,” and confessed that he grappled with deep-seated doubts about his identity beyond the relationship, stemming from internal insecurities.

Nick shared on the October 24th episode of the Ray Daniels Presents podcast, “In my twenties, I married the most famous star globally. At night, I’d often ponder, ‘Is this really me? Am I her man? Is this what my life is meant to be?’

The 44-year-old went on to say, “It’s perfectly fine, and I grew very accustomed to it. I can leisurely wake up at midday, and I’m even presented with steaks on a tray like an island paradise.

Nick, who got married to Mariah in 2008, confessed that he had lost his drive or determination (referred to as “hustler” spirit) and things became clearer for him once they had their now 13-year-old twins, Monroe Cannon and Moroccan Cannon.

In his explanation, he said, “Later, when you have children, it’s like this: ‘I’m the one carrying the purse, the diaper bag, and I’m standing on the corner waiting.’ Meanwhile, she radiates strength and dominance as the alpha figure.

Nick went on to explain that he felt Mariah existed in a realm of her own and required someone who could offer emotional sustenance. At the same time, he admitted that he perceived himself as a key player.

He commented that the suitable partner for an independent woman such as Mariah deserved this, he said. ‘And the affection held me captivated because I thought, ‘You require companionship. You need a support network. You need someone who doesn’t value you for your wealth. You need someone who is genuine. You need someone who’s ready to establish a family and nurture wonderful children together.’ That was my objective. But then there was something deep within me that…’

Ultimately, his personal doubts seeped into his career, leading Nick to wonder if his positions as chairman at Nickelodeon and Island Def Jam were due to his wife’s influence rather than his own abilities.

The former “All That” cast member jokingly commented, “I’ve been wearing suits every day as a way to show that I’m proving my masculinity.” He added humorously, “The immature side of me feels the need to prove my manhood because I’m standing next to a woman.

Ultimately, Nick – known for openly sharing his multi-decade struggle against Lupus – expresses that this personal health journey made him keenly aware of all the tasks awaiting him, as he reflected, “There is so much left for me to accomplish.

As a result, he joked, “That’s probably why I have 12 kids now.”

Starting from his separation in 2016 with Mariah, the host of “The Masked Singer” has expanded his family. He is a father to three children: Golden (7 years old), Rise (2 years old), and Powerful (3 years old) whom he shares with Brittaney Bell. Additionally, he has twins Zion Mixolydian (3 years old) and Zillion Heir (also 3 years old), as well as Beautiful Zeppelin (23 months old) with Abby De La Rosa. Moreover, he is the father of Legendary (2 years old) with Bre Tiesi from “Selling Sunset.” He also shares Onyx Cole (2 years old) with LaNisha Cole, and Halo Marie (also 23 months old). Unfortunately, he had a late son named Zen.

Despite their past breakup, Nick has indicated on several occasions that Mariah might have been the one who slipped through his fingers.

In an interview with TopMob News in August, Nick playfully remarked about reuniting with his ex-wife by saying, “We’re meant to be together.” He added humorously, “It would be foolish not to consider it.

“She don’t want me.”
