As a long-time fan of Dancing With the Stars, I have to say I was quite taken aback by the recent news about Artem Chigvintsev‘s arrest. Having followed his journey from a beloved pro dancer on the show to a loving husband and father, it’s hard not to feel a personal connection to him.
Nikki Garcia is leaning on her twin sister amid her divorce.
On September 20th, the former WWE star was seen purchasing pumpkins with Brie Garcia, approximately a week following her filing for divorce from Artem Chigvintsev.
On their trip to Napa Valley, California, the sisters showcased distinct athleisure styles. Nikki chose a neutral palette, donning an all-black ensemble and accessorizing it with a trench coat in an oat hue, a crossbody bag, and a plaid hat. She was also seen pushing a cart filled with pumpkins, seemingly without her wedding ring on.
In the meantime, Brie, mother to 7-year-old Birdie and 4-year-old Buddy (with husband Bryan Danielson), was seen strolling alongside her sister, dressed in a complete green outfit, carrying an off-white hat in her hand, with a matching fannypack.
The ex-stars of Total Bellas are spotted, with their separation between Nikki and Artem becoming a public spectacle.
Two weeks following Artem’s arrest on a domestic violence accusation, on August 29th, and his release on bail, Nikki initiated divorce proceedings on September 11th, stating “irreconcilable differences.” She petitioned for both legal and physical guardianship of their son, Matteo, who is 4 years old.
A few days passed, Artem submitted his own documents on September 13, including August 29 – the date of his arrest – as the day they parted ways, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their breakup. However, they only seemed to concur on these points.
In his plea, the 42-year-old man proposed a shared custody arrangement for Matteo with Nikki, aged 40. Additionally, the former Dancing With the Stars contestant asked that Nikki be obligated to cover both alimony and legal fees, while she sought from the court to end any entitlement for spousal support for each of them.
From my perspective, neither Artem nor Nikki have confirmed their separation personally, but their respective representatives have issued statements about the situation on their behalves.

Back on September 16th, I chose to remain tight-lipped regarding any ongoing legal matters, as my lawyers made clear in a statement to People. My partner and I are fully committed to navigating these complexities with grace, prioritizing co-parenting and ensuring our shared focus remains on what’s best for our precious son.
Although Artem and Nikki haven’t confirmed the breakup themselves, their respective representatives have made statements on their behalf.
On September 13th, Nikki’s representative informed TopMob News that she is currently requesting privacy for herself and her family.
On September 16th, Artem’s legal team communicated to People magazine that Artem will refrain from discussing any ongoing case. They also mentioned that the pair are concentrating on shared parenting and collaborating for the welfare of their child.
In regular language: “Regarding common procedure, the divorce response guarantees Mr. Chigvintsev’s ability to claim financial support and costs. If these boxes are not ticked in the reply documents, it means giving up the chance to ask for such compensation. At this time, there is no ongoing motion requesting spousal support or fees, which is also known as a Request for Order.
His lawyer added that they “intend to resolve all pending issues on mutually acceptable terms.”

Artem Chigvintsev was apprehended around 10 a.m. on August 29, as confirmed by Henry Wofford, the spokesperson for Napa County Sheriff’s Office, to TopMob News. Wofford mentioned that Chigvintsev, who is known for his work on Dancing With the Stars, did not resist and was transported to Napa County Department of Corrections. Chigvintsev was booked for felony domestic violence with a bond set at $25,000 according to online records.
The professional dancer posted bail and was released from custody at 2:18 p.m. on Aug.29, Wofford confirmed to TopMob News. A court date has yet to be announced.
In response to queries from NBC News, Wofford confirmed that Chigvintsev was taken into custody in Yountville, California, without disclosing the exact location due to a request for privacy from the alleged victim. The sheriff is also withholding the name, gender, age, and relationship of the suspect to Chigvintsev for the same reason. However, Wofford did provide some details about the arrest.
In an audio clip released by TMZ on August 30th, a 911 dispatcher is heard saying that Chigvintsev had initially called for medical aid following an argument where shoes were supposedly thrown at him. Later in the call, Chigvintsev indicated that medical assistance was no longer necessary. Nevertheless, Wofford explained to Page Six that authorities still conducted a welfare check because, in cases of domestic violence, they will continue their investigation even if someone on the phone later says they don’t need help anymore. They won’t just abandon their duties.
Up until August 30th, Chigvintsev hasn’t made any public statements regarding his arrest or the 911 call. Our team at TopMob News has attempted to get a comment from his representative, but we haven’t received a response as of now.
Chigvintsev was arrested just around three weeks before the start of Dancing With the Stars season 33. Interestingly, although he’s won the Mirrorball trophy and has been a part of the show for 12 seasons, he wasn’t included in this year’s cast, according to Page Six and Variety. At the moment, ABC hasn’t provided any comment on the matter when TopMob News reached out to them.
