As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the announcement of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound during The Game Awards pre-show has left me absolutely thrilled! With my nostalgia glasses on, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic excitement reminiscent of the days when I first played the 8-bit Ninja Gaiden titles.
Dotemu of Streets of Rage 4 fame and Koei Tecmo kicked off The Game Awards pre-show to announce a new Ninja Gaiden title. Unlike the 3D hack-and-slash series from Team Ninja, this is a 2D side-scrolling action title akin to the older 8-bit Ninja Gaiden titles. Check out the first trailer below.
In the limelight from The Game Kitchen of Blasphemous renown, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound has Ryu Hayabusa journeying to America, where demons inexplicably overrun the human realm. Thankfully, he won’t embark on this perilous quest alone; a newcomer named Kenji Mozu will also join the battle.
The combat is exhilaratingly swift, featuring characters who can swiftly dismember foes, both on the ground and in the air (and even rebound from jumps during the action). Naturally, it’s not all smooth sailing; there are formidable bosses to conquer too, such as a colossal demon bat creature.
In Summer 2025, you’ll be able to play Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Keep an eye out for further updates regarding game specifics and demos in the coming months!
