I’m deeply gratified, truly. When we created “Ninja Scroll”, our intention was to captivate a worldwide audience. In fact, I penned “this is the era of Ninja wars!” in my initial draft. I was utterly passionate about bringing this movie to life, and I firmly believed that only I could do it justice. So, it brings me immense joy to hear people lauding the title, and to overhear comments like “I’ve never encountered anything quite like that before!” It’s a heartening validation of our efforts.
The unique backdrop and artistic style of ‘Ninja Scroll’ likely felt fresh and distinctive to global viewers. The action sequences set in a Japanese historical context were particularly impressive. While contemporary samurai dramas still exist, this title stands out due to its energetic action scenes that deviate from the typical themes found in period dramas.
Jubei Kibagami, a rogue ninja, has left a trail of blood across Japan. However, when he saves a female ninja from a demonic creature, he unwillingly gets entangled in a plot that links his past as a ninja to a demonic scheme to overthrow the government. This scheme was orchestrated by none other than his former leader who, surprisingly, survived being decapitated by Jubei!
