A video game initially released in 2013, exclusive to Nintendo 3DS upon launch, can now be downloaded free of charge – but only for those using Steam, which unfortunately excludes Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and even the original 3DS users. This limited-time offer, however, will expire on June 26, so anyone interested should act quickly to redeem it while they can. In essence, this is a temporary giveaway, not a permanent one.
Speaking of the complimentary game at hand, we’re referring to SteamWorld Dig, which is the second installment in the SteamWorld series, with SteamWorld Tower Defense serving as its predecessor. Similar to other games within this series, including subsequent ones, it was created by Image & Form, a studio based in Sweden.
Initially launched for Nintendo 3DS in 2013, this game was initially exclusive to the 3DS system. Over time, it was ported to other platforms, but due to its initial release, it’s often recognized and remembered as a 3DS game. Upon its release, it received an 83 on Metacritic, which is a good score. On Steam, it has accumulated 5,829 user reviews, with 94% of them being positive. This equates to a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, one of the highest ratings a game can receive on this platform. After you’ve downloaded it from Steam, you can expect a gameplay experience lasting between five and nine hours. For those who only want to complete the main storyline, the minimum duration would be around five hours. However, if you aim for full completion, you might find yourself investing closer to nine hours.
