As a long-time collector with a heart full of nostalgia, I can hardly contain my excitement for the return of some classic amiibo figures! It feels like a dream come true to see Boo, Goomba, and Koopa Troopa making a comeback after all these years. These figures have been missing from my collection for far too long, and I’ve had to shell out an arm and a leg to get them second-hand on eBay.

In just a month, it will be ten years since Nintendo introduced their amiibo line, a milestone that surpassed everyone’s initial expectations. Over the past decade, Nintendo has manufactured numerous amiibo figures, some of which have become quite scarce and valuable on the resale market. Fortunately, Nintendo has been reissuing many of these toys in recent years. On November 21st, three rare amiibos – Boo, Goomba, and Koopa Troopa – will be re-released. You can now pre-order all three through GameStop, with links provided below:

Super Mario Boo amiibo- $15.99

Super Mario Goomba amiibo- $15.99

Super Mario Koopa Troopa amiibo- $15.99

These Amiibo figures typically sell for double their original price on platforms like eBay due to being out-of-stock for years. Nintendo tends to reprint these items in connection with new software releases; recently, two Zelda Amiibo were brought back alongside “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom”. It might have been more logical to release Boo, Goomba, and Koopa Troopa in conjunction with “Super Mario Party Jamboree”, but perhaps Nintendo wanted a bit of distance between the Zelda reissues and the recently launched Splatoon two-packs. Regardless of the reasoning, collectors are thrilled to see these figures back on the market!

It’s uncertain whether these reprints will only be available at GameStop or if they’ll also be sold at stores like Target and Walmart. These three amiibo work with a variety of Nintendo Switch games, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Party, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. Their functionality isn’t particularly strong, but many collectors prefer these figurines as affordable decorative pieces instead. For those who appreciate amiibo for their aesthetic value, Boo is a more interesting choice because it can emit a glow in the dark.

As of now, it’s unclear whether Nintendo will continue producing amiibo figures. Although there’s no indication that the line is being discontinued, there are no upcoming releases scheduled at the moment. The launch of “Echoes of Wisdom” seemed like a great chance to introduce a new Zelda figure, but instead, Nintendo opted for a re-release based on her appearance in “The Wind Waker.” It’s speculated that Nintendo might be waiting to create new figures to coincide with some potential Switch 2 games coming next year. There’s even talk of designs inspired by the rumored 3D Mario game in development. This would follow the pattern seen with “Super Mario Odyssey,” which had figures for Mario, Peach, and Bowser released together.
