Nintendo Celebrates the Start of 2025 With Never Before Seen Artwork

As a lifelong Nintendo enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of their consoles from the humble beginnings of the NES, I can confidently say that 2025 promises to be an extraordinary year for gaming. The tantalizing prospect of new hardware and a fresh lineup of first-party games has left me giddy with anticipation.

While 2024 was relatively quiet in terms of original releases, it did give us the opportunity to revisit some classic titles through remasters and ports. And let’s not forget the long-awaited debut of Zelda as a playable character in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – a decision that has left me both awestruck and eager for more.

The upcoming lineup for 2025 is nothing short of breathtaking, with the likes of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Metroid Prime 4, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A gracing our screens. Add to that the much-anticipated announcement of the Nintendo Switch’s successor, and it’s safe to say we have a lot to look forward to!

I can already hear the collective sighs of relief from fellow fans who have been waiting for years to see the return of these beloved franchises. And as someone who has spent countless hours navigating the Mushroom Kingdom, traversing alien worlds, and battling nefarious villains, I can’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie with my fellow enthusiasts.

Now, if only Nintendo could do something about my ever-expanding backlog of unfinished games… Maybe they could release an “Nintendo World Championships: Backlog Edition” in 2025? I’ll just be over here, waiting patiently (or not) for the next big thing from Nintendo. Bring it on, 2025!

As the New Year approaches, many companies worldwide are joining in the celebration, and Nintendo is no exception. Their official X/Twitter account has marked the occasion by unveiling a fresh piece of artwork inspired by “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom”. The artwork showcases an unprecedented image of Zelda from the game, accompanied by her companion Tri, and a couple of Zols. They are depicted sitting under a starlit sky at dusk, gazing into the distance. Nintendo’s post is captioned with “anticipating another year and all the wisdom it will bring”.

2024 saw an excellent conclusion with “The Legend of Zelda: Wisdom’s Echo” as its highlight. This game, Nintendo’s largest first-party release for the year, earned this recognition. Developed by Grezzo, the adventure marked a significant milestone by placing Zelda in the limelight of a main series game. Moreover, she was equipped with distinct abilities that differentiated her from Link.

In the Legend of Zelda universe, Zols are typically enemies. However, their presence in the latest artwork is justified because players can now create Echoes of enemies. These Echoes can be dispatched to battles or used to solve puzzles.

2024 was generally a subdued year for Nintendo, with Zelda as an exception. The company mainly focused on delivering games for Switch, which were primarily remasters and updated versions of previous titles like Another Code: Recollection, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. However, there were some new releases such as Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, Endless Ocean Luminous, and Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Yet, none of the newly released games were comparable to the grandeur of 2023’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Pikmin 4, or Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

As a longtime gaming enthusiast and Nintendo fan, I am thrilled about the prospects for 2025. With my years of experience in the industry, I can confidently say that the lineup for next year is shaping up to be one of the most exciting for the company yet. Four first-party games have been confirmed so far: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Metroid Prime 4, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A. In any given year, those last two games would already be enough to make a significant impact, but what makes 2025 truly stand out is the anticipated announcement of the Nintendo Switch successor, often referred to as the “Nintendo Switch 2.”

While I don’t have insider knowledge about the exact release date, it’s widely expected that we’ll see this new console at some point in 2025. As someone who has closely followed Nintendo’s releases and been a part of the gaming community for many years, I can say with confidence that 2025 is shaping up to be a monumental year for gamers and the company alike. I can hardly wait to see what other surprises they have in store!

Anticipation surrounds the upcoming Nintendo console release, as it’s always an exciting event. While Nintendo remains secretive about the specific games we might see, some third-party developers have given us subtle hints regarding their planned software offerings. After years of speculation, let’s hope that 2025 will bring a launch worth commemorating!
