Historically, we’ve been graced with these presentations in September, but this year could potentially bring an early surprise. If recent whispers are to be trusted, a new Nintendo Direct might unfold this month! The originator of this rumor is none other than Piranha Plant Brazil, a well-known figure on Famiboards. According to their post, the next presentation will likely happen sooner rather than later, with an Indie World showcase still scheduled for September.
As a long-time Nintendo enthusiast with countless hours spent exploring various worlds within their games, I find myself constantly on the lookout for exciting new releases and updates. However, I must admit that I’ve learned to take rumors about upcoming Directs with a grain of salt, having been burned more than once by premature excitement.
Nintendo plans to unveil at least four new games from its own studios over the next four months, and some exclusive titles for 2025 are already confirmed. Additionally, there’s a strong likelihood that Nintendo will announce its successor to the Nintendo Switch (often referred to as the Switch 2) before the end of 2024, with many anticipating the announcement to occur by fall. Nintendo has hinted that the gap between the new system’s announcement and release will be shorter than what was seen with the original Switch. If the new system is set to launch in the first half of 2025 (similar to the original Switch’s debut in early 2017), we should learn about it relatively soon, given the anticipated shorter timeframe between announcement and release.
