In recent times, the launch dates of gaming consoles have caused significant worry among gamers. From the initial launch of the Switch, which left many struggling to buy it for months, to the release of the Xbox X|S and PlayStation 5, both marred by over a year’s worth of scarcity, it seems uncertain that players will be able to secure a next-gen system. This apprehension was evident before the launch of the Switch 2, as request forms for pre-orders in online shops were being filled out. However, a week after release, it appears these forms did little to assist gamers.
As the launch of Nintendo’s new console approached, a select group of gamers were given access to a virtual queue for pre-orders. However, unlike traditional pre-order processes, those who joined the queue didn’t receive any information about how or when they could actually purchase the Switch 2. Despite filling out the necessary forms, they were left in the dark regarding their pre-order status.
After almost a week since its release, I’ve finally started receiving notifications that I can now attempt to order the console online – a notification that has become irrelevant due to the lack of communication, leaving those who had attempted to pre-order in a mad dash to grab a Switch 2 at local retail stores.
Nintendo Gamers Slam Nintendo Pre-Order Emails
Post by influencer and YouTube personality Austin John Plays: “Exciting update! I just received an email from Nintendo. I’m fortunate enough to be able to pre-order the Switch 2!
Amazing news! Nintendo emailed me.
I get to preorder a switch 2!

In simpler terms, the gamers who commented expressed frustration over Nintendo’s supposedly faulty queue system for a product. One user jokingly stated that they received their item the day after, finding it ironic and criticizing Nintendo for their mistake. Another user, despite not being good enough to get an invitation, admitted they didn’t expect one and instead opted to purchase it from a physical store.
A pre-order or queue system is beneficial to prevent resellers from purchasing multiple devices and inflating prices, but it’s effective only if it operates smoothly. Unfortunately, only a limited number of Nintendo enthusiasts received codes to join the queue, and even fewer were granted the opportunity to pre-order devices. The majority were left waiting for their turn in line. Many found visiting local stores more practical than standing by in a virtual queue after the release day, which made the experience of trying to use the queue rather frustrating for most. This issue has been criticized as one of the significant drawbacks of the Switch 2 launch, with many gamers still awaiting their confirmation emails.
It’s great news that securing a Switch 2 console has been less of a challenge than initially expected. Numerous individuals posting on social media have reported successfully purchasing one on the release day from stores like Target, GameStop, Costco, and Walmart. Availability has fluctuated based on location and demand, but it appears that regular restocks are happening, which is beneficial for those who couldn’t pre-order one.
Regardless of some initial hiccups and criticism surrounding the pre-order process for the Switch 2, gamers appear enthusiastic and predominantly optimistic about the console itself. As updates for favorite games become available on the eShop and highly anticipated titles like Pokemon Legends: Z-A approach, there’s a sense of anticipation for the next chapter in the Switch saga. Although it’s too early to determine if the new model will encounter hardware problems similar to the original Switch, so far, it seems to be making a promising start for those who have successfully acquired one.
