Over the past two weeks since its unveiling, the Nintendo Switch 2 has stirred up a lot of debate. Topics range from game pricing and requiring a subscription for Nintendo Switch Online’s GameChat feature, to paid upgrades and Game-Key Cards. Another point of contention has arisen as it appears that Nintendo may have omitted any mention of Variable Refresh Rate support when the console is docked in its official specifications.
On ResetEra, it was noted by RandomlyRandom67 that the official sites for the U.S. and Canada no longer mention Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support. However, High Dynamic Range (HDR) and 120 frames per second functionality on compatible TVs are still available, and when docked, the console can still be used in a resolution up to 4K.
Nintendo hasn’t spoken about the absence of the specific feature nor confirmed whether it might be added later in a possible update post-release. The Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5th at $449.99, but pre-orders have been delayed due to recent tariff issues in the U.S. It remains unclear if the console’s price will increase or if Nintendo will cover the expenses as suggested by some.
