Nintendo Reveals Awesome New Metroid Prime Book Coming in 2025

As a gamer with a heart full of nostalgia and a mind buzzing with excitement, let me tell you that the upcoming year is shaping up to be a Metroid-tastic adventure! With the release of Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective, we’ll get an unprecedented glimpse into the making of these iconic games.

2025 seems to be shaping up as a significant year for the Metroid series, with fans having something exciting to anticipate courtesy of a recent announcement by Nintendo and Piggyback. The upcoming release, Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective, is an art book delving into the creation process of the first three games in the franchise, along with Metroid Prime Remastered. This book is set to hit shelves during summer 2025 and promises a behind-the-scenes peek at the series development. It’s not just an art book, but it will also include insights from the creators who made these games so endearing.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’m part of the team creating “Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective“, in close collaboration with Nintendo and Retro Studios. This unique book offers a privileged peek into the creative process, with developers penning personal introductions and producers providing enlightening commentaries, insights, and anecdotes about the showcased artwork.

Previously, Piggyback has collaborated with Nintendo on various video game books, one of which was the official guide to “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”. Those who bought that guide can anticipate a similar layout in “Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective”. The book will be bound together using stitches and will have a cloth hardcover. The cover design will be black with an embossed metallic image of Samus Aran, the Metroid heroine, in red. Inside, the pages will be printed on premium art paper. The 212-page book is priced at $49.99 upon release.

For fans, Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective should offer a compelling look back at the creation of the series. While it might be surprising to think about, the original Metroid Prime was steeped in controversy ahead of its release. There was a lot of uncertainty surrounding Retro Studios, as fans were uneasy about an American team handling the Japanese series. The game’s first-person perspective was also a drastic departure from what had been seen in games like Super Metroid. Against all odds, Retro managed to deliver a critically-acclaimed game that received two well-regarded sequels. Hopefully the book will offer more perspective about the trials and difficulties that surrounded the first game’s development.

It appears that the book Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective won’t provide updates on the upcoming game in the series, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Although it’s slated for release in 2025, the exact arrival date remains unknown. However, we expect to learn more in the following months, and one thing is certain – Metroid enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to in 2025!
