Nintendo Reveals File Sizes for Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and More

The new Switch 2 boasts a substantial technological advancement compared to its previous version, which means the games will undeniably be more visually stunning, challenging technically, and consequently, larger in file size. However, they won’t become excessively large, as it has been found out.

Nintendo is gradually disclosing the file sizes of upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games through their Japanese online store, and so far, these sizes appear to be larger than those for the original Nintendo Switch but still quite reasonable compared to current industry standards.

Compared to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s 11.3 GB on Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart World is larger with a 23.4 GB file size. On the other hand, Donkey Kong Bananza will require only 10 GB of storage. Notably, Super Mario Odyssey, the team’s recent significant 3D platformer, takes up just 5.6 GB.

Nintendo has disclosed the sizes for upcoming enhanced versions of some original Switch games, including Kirby and the Forgotten Land which is approximately the same size as its original file at 5.7 GB, an interesting fact to note. Super Mario Party Jamboree, on the other hand, will be slightly larger at 7.7 GB (up from 5.3 GB on Switch).

For those with a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, the Nintendo Classics – GameCube application, providing access to exclusive GameCube games on the future Switch 2 model, has a file size of approximately 3.5 gigabytes.

On June 5, the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 debuts alongside “Mario Kart World” as its initial game. This release includes an internal storage capacity of 256 GB. Meanwhile, “Donkey Kong Bananza” is set to be released on July 17.
