Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Controllers Have Quieter HD Rumble Than Switch Joy-Cons

The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 offers numerous upgrades compared to its predecessor, one of which is an advanced HD Rumble feature, a technology initially introduced by Nintendo for the original Switch in 2017. Interestingly, it appears that gamers may need to keep their original Joy-Con controllers from the first Switch even when playing games on the new Switch 2 model.

According to VGC’s findings, certain games listed on Nintendo’s website won’t work with the new Joy-Con 2 controllers due to varying reasons. For instance, the exercise game “Ring Fit Adventure” requires the Ring-Con accessory, which the Joy-Con 2 controllers are too big to fit into.

1-2-Switch for Nintendo Switch is a new game that utilizes the Joy-Con controllers. The reduced volume of HD Rumble in these controllers means that certain mini-games, like Joy-Con Hide & Seek, may no longer be playable because they rely on the sounds generated by HD Rumble for their core mechanics.

As a devoted fan, I’ve noticed that the force feedback vibrations of the Joy-Con 2 controllers have been slightly diminished compared to the original Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons. This might make it a bit trickier for you to locate the elusive Joy-Con 2 in the minigame Joy-Con Hide & Seek, as the vibrations may not be as pronounced.

The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to debut on June 5, and it’s already started accepting pre-orders across various regions. Despite being well-received worldwide, the Japanese market has shown an extraordinary level of interest. The lottery system implemented by Nintendo for pre-ordering the Switch 2 in Japan attracted over 2 million customers. In a statement, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa acknowledged that many of the customers who registered for the lottery may not receive their pre-order on time for the launch date.

On April 2nd, Furukawa shared the specifics of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and initiated lottery applications through the My Nintendo Store. The response was overwhelming, with over 2.2 million applicants just in Japan! Unfortunately, this number far surpassed our initial predictions, and the amount of Nintendo Switch 2 units available on June 5 from the My Nintendo Store is significantly less than what was requested.

The company’s ‘How to Purchase’ section indicates that not all pre-orders placed via the Nintendo shop may be delivered before the June 5 release date. Some customers will receive an email notification when they can place their order, while others could find themselves waiting for subsequent batches of console shipments.

“The company is excited about the excitement surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2! Due to an incredibly high level of interest, we are working hard to meet demand as soon as the product hits the market. However, delivery by June 5th cannot be guaranteed. Keep in mind that your invitation email might arrive after the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. We’ll provide you with a specific shipping date once you make a purchase.”
